kobblers
Check your terms and conditions to see if it's mentioned in there. If it's not, tell them to do one. Rick.
Mike at Vauxhall
When I left RMS for worldpay, they sent me a bill of £220. I checked my t & c, that clearly indicated a termination charge of £120. I wrote to them, explaining this enclosing a cheque for £120. As Kobblers says, check your t & c, you might have to pay. grahamparker
Joining RMS has been one of the biggest mistakes of my life. Not really making any savings that they predicted and i have had a lot of issues with them so although they where a little more expensive i am going back to Worldpay as soon as my 2 years are up. exp121260
I am with Sage Pay and they are the best in this field for price and customer service. I bought the machine outright £239 including VAT. no contract and can leave at any time, it cost me about £10 for every £1000 card payments processed. never had any issues for the last 2 years. and the charges are as follows; Card Machine Purchase - £239 Elavon Merchant Services charges : Personal Debit – 0.7% Business Debit – 1.4% Personal Credit Cards – 1.99% Business Credit Cards – 2.69% There is also a £4 per month PCI compliance. Not any hidden fees like set up fees, authorisation charges, minimum spend requirements or monthly fees. Best to read reviews online about these card companies before purchase. enquires call this number 0845 111 4466 Mike at Vauxhall

NYKeys
Yorkshire Payments are cheapest I've found anywhere (happy to share my rates) - but the customer service is pretty poor and the setup process was a nightmare. Now that it's up and running and I don't have to deal with them, I'm happy.
lock&quay
I'm with the FSB & they do a good deal via 123 send & world pay .
Bren
Just got a paypal reader. £35 one off fee and 2.75% on sales. Great if you don't take a lot on cards. Lee
MarkD
iZettle would be even better at only 1.75%, that extra percent soon adds up. lockdecoders
David C
iZettles 2.5% charge for invoicing put me off. It's a free feature of Paypal. I use it regularly for customers who have accounts with us and they can pay by Bank Transfer, Cheque or whatever.

crystal-engravers
I use Sumup too. Clear reports, no monthly costs etc. Certainly worth checking them out As an aside customers are pretty impressed with it & thinks it's cool. So they say anyway. YMMV. If you are with FSB get their legal team to check it . Terms & conditions have to be a certain size font & easy to read ( not on that nearly see through paper ). Mike at Vauxhall
After some problems with my landline, I bought a sumup 3g reader, as back up, in case the phone line plays up again. Quite happy with it, really straight forward, a lot less sodding paper, and now I can even take amex.
CDTL
does it make a difference to turn over once you got a card machine in i am still on the fence because i have cash machines just a 2 minute walk away. but as my outside work is getting bigger all the time maybe i need to do it opinions please
keithm
I think it's a no brainer in business nowadays, it's a major convenience to the customer and sets you apart from anyone who doesn't have one, a nice USP if you're in a competitive situation. It's also easier to up-sell if they're paying by card, something you should always look for imho.
grahamparker
70% of our sales are now paid by Credit Cards and that figure is getting higher bit by bit. I reckon within 5 years we will be taking 95% cards and only 5% cash if that. I have an RMS machine run through Elavon but i have a few customers who's corporate card will not work on it so i have just ordered a sum up reader as a backup. £10 off at the moment as well so only £22.80 including delivery and vat and they charge 1.69% of a transaction. I agree that most of these apps are better value for money than traditional terminals now as if you add everything up, you would have to be putting significant amounts through to make a rented terminal more cost effective. lockdecoders

(that even a child could pass) ITS IN THE SMALL PRINT OF THE INVOICE - even on calling them and writing they still refuse to refund!
