hakeemz
yes quiet.. is it just me ..when its quiet i always get ultra stingy customers, the freebie seekers can you stick some glue on this or can you open this watch back (and then when they turn their back , stick a battery in) they turn back and say could you pop it back on i am having trouble doing it..lol
simon1
Long time ago we started charge money for opening and closing watches and after that most freebie seekers are happy to pay Those who are not happy to pay for our services just walk out No money no honey kobblers
wellsy9
I charge for opening and closing watches too. They buy a card of batteries from Poundland then come in expecting you to open and put their cheap batteries in for nothing. Chase yourself pal. da miller, kobblers and GLENGRAVING
hakeemz
yes i charge too, and to be fair most of my customers are nice, its strange how in quiet spell they all come out kobblers
Danny King
We charge.. My tools and my time...
Count Muppet
I’ve been getting this more and more commonly for watch batteries and also car remotes. i don’t do anything for free either. I don’t mind reducing the price a little depending how they ask but I won’t let them take the piss when they think they’re being clever
Flash
I charge the same price as a new battery, if they don't pay, go away. Surprising how many backs "just came off"
GLENGRAVING
Had a customer the other day ask me to 'not use that machine to press it on too tight' He admitted trying to open the watch himself to no avail - i explained that the back is either on or it's off, and having the tools (and knowhow) to deal with it is why i charge money
Tom D
its great when you get a tightwad in and all the machines are running ( you can just turn around and carry on) but I do agree this time of year brings out the worst customers
CDTL
At anytime of the year when it goes quiet we all have the same problem staying positive and remembering we are not alone, but when it does go quiet we have to stay even stronger with our price, you do a job cheap for those customers who want everything for nothing then the next minute they have told all there friends, say no more da miller
Mike at Vauxhall
Following a couple of incidents/close calls and a thread, and advise, on this forum. Maybe last year, or even the year before. This was my solution . simon1, da miller and kobblers

Mike at Vauxhall
At least being self employed, I don't have an area manager screaming at me, "Mike, fax me (it was a while ago) an action plan within the hour, and don't rehash a bloody old one!" Ps, he didn't say bloody. I would rehash an old one. Sometimes its quiet, some times it's busy. Hopefully it more than evens out towards busy. As a side note, I may not really do structured action plans as such any more, but I'm always looking at ways to improve my shop .
