Cutting Ultion dimple keys?

Recommended Posts

I've been asked for a few different Ultion dimple keys lately and have been turning them away as I'd heard too many stories of not working, jamming locks etc.

I was wondering how easy they are to do now and any potential (expensive!!) problems there are?

I would be copying using a Silca Matrix SX so would have to buy cutters and tracers as well as blanks, any advice/warnings before I invest?

ive been using JMA TX-22 for ages for for all the old and new WXM including X21 and higher, no issues.

i would suggest you keep a lock in stock too tho as they can be sticky the first time they are used, i test every key before handing to the customer and if they dont quite go in just give it a knock then flip and do the same on the other side, work perfectly after that.

Until 1 jams in the lock and the customer is locked out.

oh the locks are utter shite, but never had a single problem over the years and especially with the JMA TX-22 blank which seems to be pretty much identical to OEM, some of the early blanks that came out looked like they were cast from the dregs of "made in china" quality

I've dealt with Ultion dimple keys a few times, and honestly, they can be hit or miss. Some customers reported issues with jamming or not working properly. If you're set on getting a Silca Matrix SX, it’s a good machine, but you'll need to invest in decent cutters and tracers.

I've seen the £34K Silca D700 demo and it's not fit for purpose out of the box
Hence the didn't get an order

What was the main gripes you had with it if you don't mind me asking, I was waiting for the D600 to pop up on u.k. distributors websites but no one seems to know the price of them yet - hopefully I can get a demo when they are available

Went to Aldridge Security Demonstration and was not impressed with this D700 Quattrocode at £34,000 + VAT
So, I expected it to be able to cut the Yale Superior/Platinum or Magnum (One of the most popular dimples in the UK) straight out of the box, it can't without purchasing the tilting jaw at an extra £4,000 +

I was ready to purchase until my technical questions got answered/unanswered and it's restricted capabilities were known
Oh and the engraving of the key head requires external input of SKP software to load templates, that Silca couldn't be install as ready to use at the factory
Radial Pin Tubular keys requires dedicated jaw at £750 +

D600 Quattrocode cost is around £20K + and probably with the same restricted capabilities as D700

I rest my case...

seems to be the case with all this kind of machine now, Futura needs 'extra jaws' every time I try and cut a new key, needs a new jaw?

crap
