Flash
Listened to the news about a fellow repairer who lost his thumb while trimming around a top piece, had his toe amputated and grafted in place of his thumb to enable him to continue working. Seems like a tragic case, or is this fake news, has anyone else heard about this?
grahamparker
I saw the story in the newspaper but did not read it fully, i did not realise he was a shoe repairer.

Lee
Blimey. I had the exact same accident back in 2001. Caught my jumper, got wrapped round my machine, it sliced through my arm and broke my wrist. I’ve only got size 5 feet, my new thumb would have looked like a pinky algsoul

x minit uk
Happened to me too, sliced my arm up and I tore some ligaments in my shoulder trying to pull it back out. Also I couldn’t reach the emergency stop button at the other end of the machine !.
grahamparker
Happened to me over 30 years ago got my jumper caught up in the breaster wheel and it threw me to the ground then slowly started pulling me in. My mate stopped the machine before laughing non stop for well over 10 minutes. Luckily i came to no harm but i felt like i had been body slammed by a wrestler and i ached for days.
