NEW SITE

Recommended Posts

I've tried must be a hundred various options to bring our site up to date over the past few years. Installing, finding short comings to programs & having to many technical issues to put right that prove tricky & moving on. I "think" I've finally found a licensed software that does the trick!

although the forum we use is well sorted & has rave reviews for me its dated.

if it all comes together as I believe it will this time the new forum should allow things such as a like button on posts, signing in with facebook, but most importantly a site that works with mobile devices!

I think it will take me a month or two to iron out everything, but if you get odd downtimes with the site, this is probably the reason why!

Hi Lee,

New site looks good, it seems the user database was not imported for cached browsers but the updates to Chrome etc mean this can be impossible depending on your choice, new password function works ok. Maybe highlight the 'login' user name on those emails to prevent my instant response to try & log in using my email addy - instead of username. (I get loads of wish list changes!)

We are developing a muti platform version of our main retail site, and despite all the content/database already there it's another £10k to make it happen as we are full transaction based and the banks insist on security (LOL didn't they go bust ??) So changing this site's platform on your own is brave and hats off to you!

Doing all this on your own shows amazing passion - as discussed before if you want us to sponsor a forum just ask, it seems Charles Birch and you have a very close relationship! But if a forum needs a sponsor just let me know - I'll only reply when needed!

I'll wander off now and return when I have time - crazy busy but it's all good fun  :smt057

Kind regards

Mat

I responded to your request previously.

At the moment, I don't feel it would be a good mod. As mentioned I use another forum & all I get is a massive request to install tapatalk every time I visit it, As a non user of tapatalk it gets on my nerves.

Well I have used it since it was changed over- No problems, no kinks found - well not with the programe - I spoke to my Guru and she reckoned he deserves a big medal for the switch, she is a professional and thought it a major task, so for Lee to have done such an amazing job on his own shown what a top bloke he is

Thanks Lee.

Thanks Mick, It was a major task! I'm feeling the repercussions of the time I spent, this month I'm so far behind on paperwork and things I put to one side in the shop here I feel I need to come up for air!.

It's very high quality your new provider.

Just a suggestion maybe include your donation button for your charity or server donations on the home page - here's a link to a forum that runs on the same provider you can see how hes done it and might pick up quite a few new ideas

http://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/

He also has a Facebook page and has set up automatic posting so every time a new post is made it gets published to the Facebook page - keeps all the fans and members engaged and visiting the forum - traffic went through the roof when he did it.
