Same as you, headed in a new direction. I do check in on the forum regularly as I still do keys and watches. I keep an eye on you and your latest exploits along the way. I really miss the shoes. at heart I'm still a cobbler but had to move in new directions to keep the ship floating. Lee xx

Not shoe repair related, but my son & I started a YouTube channel & it took some time, but we are now earning a fine coin from it. We managed to produce a few products of our own that we sell via our website, it's not the YouTube revenue that pays but the sales on the back of it. we looked at our videos very commercially from the start not mentioning brand names, covering logos etc until we formulated our own products and packaging. we even renamed the mainstream products we where using so viewers couldn't find them. so for example if we where using Cherry Blossom polish we'd remove the lid and say we are now using "Our" Cobb-lees black wax to polish these. Over time we got more and more messages to buy what we where using until the time was right to launch the website & remember your viewers trust you and will pay for that trust, its the one area your don't have to compete on so you can charge a much fairer RRP. I've always been a one man band, however with YouTube both my Son and I are expanding !

In primary school I was thumped hard on the back by the headmaster for writing Left Handed, and was forced to write, right handed. When my Mum found out, she took no prisoners. Made me very Ambidextrous though, great for engraving. I nearly ripped my left hand off in my finisher & also shattered my left shoulder during my time in business these early lessons at least meant it was business as usual. I could write on those tables upside down without even looking at what I was writing. I never married her though.

At least once a year Mick would travel to Lowestoft with shoes, watches for me just so we could keep in touch, Last time l saw Mick he gave me this as I’d just restored an old bike. the last couple of weeks I’ve been brutally cleaning up my shop and moved this to protect it….. it will never leave me and will be a reminder of a great and generous friend.

This is for anyone who is or has used our trade watch repair service over the years. We have now stopped doing trade watch repairs. In January it will be a decade since we started doing Bicycle repairs, as an add on to our services during a lean period this quickly esculated & steadily we've given more and more space to the cycling industry. A couple of years ago we started doing bikes on YouTube & the impact to growth has been incredible! This month we stopped doing engraving to allow space to pack parcels from website sales on the back of the YouTube, And I'm steadily winding down "Cobb-Lee's" to make way for "Bikespeeds" Hence the decision to stop doing trade work. Thank you to all those who sent watches to us over the years, Business is a funny beast & we have to remain fluid so I'm sure you will understand our decision. Lee Cobb-Lee's Limited.

thanks for the recommendations, I no longer do the courses. I only did them during more desperate times to top things up. My Son & I are now marching on with of all things YouTube! our channel is growing rapidly & we are launching our website sales on the back of it very soon. (Bikespeeds if you're interested) and as mentioned I'm 90% bikes now and plan on stepping away from the trade in the coming years when the time is right.
