Missing stock from orders

Recommended Posts

Anyone else that’s open having problems with half fulfilled orders. We’re only receiving half of what we order yet the website says it’s in stock. Mainly shoe repairs materials. Vibrams, dr martens, etc. Customers are getting a bit miffed off with me now. Is there a reason why it’s never been a problem before?

Hi,

I think you will find this is the situation with most wholesalers etc due to a lot of stock/materials coming from abroad and being stuck at the boarders or taking longer to arrive from manufacturers location ie country. I know that one large wholesalers website only shows their products not necessarily the actual live stock levels and as you say you only find out when your order arrives with you.

Yeah my guess was borders and Covid, I’m just not getting a straight answer from anyone which is more annoying. Iv got about 7 or 8 pairs of boots and shoes for vibrams and dr marten units. Some of them are from the back end of January so I can understand customers frustration.
many thanks

Not the main grant but there’s a discretionary grant which we’re entitled to due to lack of footfall. We haven’t received it yet but other business that are still open have started getting theirs. I know a cobbler who was denied the main grant because they were allowed to stay open so they said she wasn’t entitled to the grant, she eventually managed to close but only after getting environmental health involved. It seems to be different rules for different councils.

I've been told that around here a shop has put a sign up for take away tea and coffee then opened.

I made a suggestion to one guy who was 'upset' that he couldn't open that if he gave £120 I'd sell him a key machine and keyboard with a few keys on - then he could open. Loopholes everywhere

Selling food and/or drink requires a licence from local Council, so beware, you could open under the banner of being a "repairer" Plenty of loopholes but when all this is over all grants claimed will be checked and any money falsely claimed will have to be returned, so beware.

There was a guy on my local market that sells watch straps and replaces batteries, that managed to stay open by having a few bags of pasta for sale, thereby supplying essential goods!!

Market officer and council said it was ok!!

Probably opened under the repairer banner.

We wanted to close during jan/ feb due to lack of footfall & not wanting to risk or spread infection , spoke to our council & was told did not qualify for any grant as a repair service is not required to close . So I can serve 100 customers ,handle many pairs of shoes ,bags & sets of keys risking infection but there’s no need to close , however the cafe / coffee shop can do takeaway with people queuing inside & out & still are eligible for the grants . The secondary/ discretionary grant is for £7,500 and I’ve been told it’s a set amount for businesses & any other retail or self employed grant is taken into consideration when applying.

when I said I only wanted enough to cover my next quarter rent the so called public servant said that’s how the grant had been set up & we were unfortunately one of those businesses that fell between two stones , after 32 years in business in my city I was only asking for a little help ,but as normal the little businesses seem to being shit on !!!!

There is no way they will be able to check all, or even half, the grants given.

It is a poor system the guy a few doors from me was waiting for the grant told he is going to get it - still waiting - his landlord changed the locks last week as he was as fed up waiting as the rent waiting.

I've been sent forms to fill in disclosing last years turnover against this years - obviously were down but as I haven't even asked for the grant will be more than happy to get some :)
