    That tankard looks good. I've been sandblasting for 12 years now and it has never occured to me to try it on anything else but glass. But one question was raised yesterday in chat and that was the contamination of the abrasive by pewter particles that may affect the engraving on glass. Maybe abrasives should be kept separate for each application.

    You should listen to what planet says and not criticise him. He is one of the best & respected engravers on here (Apart from Andy ) with a wealth of knowledge. Also I agree with him sandblasting is best.

    Hiya Michael, I don't know if all police badges are the same apart from the lettering, but I have the North Wales Police Badge in Vistool,.. which I think you have, maybe with a bit of jiggery pokery you could alter it. I've had a look and the basic outline seems the same apart from the wording and the swords in the middle. I could send you the one I have and you could explode it and have a fiddle about with it

    These shoes are put together with machines that have no thread tension or they are hand stitched by people with no physical strength. The welts are hanging off and should be restitched in my opinion. Strip them with extreme caution. I don't stitch new soles back on because i don't think they could stand it.
