  1. Same difference LOL Petty individuals with nothing better to do than prey on hard working independants. Probably a backhander involved somwhere.
  2. Its OK to say Timpsons Smmulti. This may be a bit of paranoia Jo but could someone have reported you for not displaying prices correctly. I would have thought trading standards had enough to do without faffing about with petty things like this.
  3. I agree with Mick, contact your local fire officer, he will advise your mate accordingly. I have a fire alarm fitted but only because I am part of a block of units. At the very least he should fit a smoke alarm anyway. ( I suspected you were an ex fellow firefighter Mick )
  4. With or without eyes? and if with. Randy eyes as in about to Rut or scared eyes as in about to get shot?
  5. Why do i bother. The guy cant afford an expensive saw. And you dont want to turn work away if someone wants it the same day. And if it takes you a while to do who knows if the customer wont come back with a bigger order?
  6. Could he not find an old scrap of a rigid material eg brass to fix in the vice then with webbing tape fix whatever he wanted to cut out using a cutter/beveller and the proceed from there? Bit long winded I know but cheaper for the time being until things pick up?
  7. Hi Hakeemz I use the beveller/cutter from Mastergrave. STC3B. I use it on a Roland EGX300 flatbed. Not sure how you would go on with your machine though. I can think of ways to improvise if you only have a vice on your machine
  8. I was arsed and then suddenly I coul'nt be arsed any more LOL go for it Planet
  9. Why thank you Terry, And where have you been of late ? Although Planet was partially right the HON31 and BO1 share the same profile. So no points scored
  10. I don't have the luxury of a varga saw but I can cut out any size up to A4 on my machine and that suits me ok. Anything larger than that I have to farm out as most do anyway
  11. I'm sure it is. But you can build up a couple of each size as I have over the last 10 years and just rotate them. It depends on the quantity of work you have really.
  12. At Birches prices that equates to approx 312 regrinds. Your choice!
  13. Not sure about Mastergrave but the last 2 I had done at Birches before I blew them out cost £6.77 inc VAT & postage
  14. I would proably hang fire for a bit and see whats coming. I bought the keycrypt pro cloning kit this year and still turn away about 60% - 70% of keys because they cannot be cloned yet. I've cut enough keys to pay for the machine but not as much as I would have liked. But the Keycrypt is an excellent machine with good backup
  15. The reason thicker thread works is possibly because it increases the tension. Try removing the small plate on the side of the shuttle. Clean out any accumulated dirt and refit. Ensure the needle is fitted the right way round ie the longest groove in the needle facing to the left of the machine.
  16. At the risk of repeating myself. A good way in my opinion (which will not be changed BTW) is a 50/50 skive not cutting deep into the old sole and not stitching through. Stitching to about 10-15mm above the waist line. I then put a line of tingles across the waist. This method has stood the test of time with us for 4 generations. A bad way is cutting deep into the old sole and stitching through. Or even stitching through at all Is that more simple for you to understand.
  17. Ok a good way is a 50/50 skive not cutting deep into the old sole and not stitching through, a bad way is cutting deep into the old sole causing a weakness in the old sole which is already old and weak possibly and stitching through. I then put a line of tingles across the waist. This method has stood the test of time with us for 4 generations.
  18. I have never stitched beyond the waist joint. You are stitching through the skived joint which is the thinnest part of the sole. You can effectivly cut through the sole at its weakest point. I've always stitched 10-15mm short. For those who do stitch through do you groove through aswell?
  19. Whats the other little word? begins with P.
