After 8 years of work at SKS I found myself Redundant back in October.

40 plus years in the Trade and I decided to have an Early Retirement!

However I m delighted to announce from today 12th April I am now Area Sales Manager for Midlands and Wales... for DAVENPORT BURGESS!

Really looking forward to meeting old friends.. and new ones too!!

Another new Chapter begins...

This is great news - I'm trying to think what made us use SKS more than we used Davenport Burgess (this is going back a few years)

1 - the SKS website was, at that time, much better. Recent changes to the Davenport Burgess website have made that point a bit less true, but I still think the SKS website has the edge. Invest in your tech and you will see the return in web orders

2 - I had a bad experience or three with a lady on the phone and on email over at DB who was quite rude/abrupt. On one occasion she just stopped replying to emails when it suited her to do so.

3 - DB don't seem to do as many of the useful hardware bits and bobs that SKS do, and the range of locks on offer isn't as good...

4- I find, and still find, that Davenport Burgess have a few layers of bewildering reference numbers for keys. The keys can have a couple of references on the invoice, another on the website, another on the cellophane bag itself and finally another one on the key . SKS are much more straightforward with (usually!) just the one consistent reference across website, cellophane, key and invoice

HOWEVER

On the plus side

1 - Davenport Burgess carriage cut off is later

2 - Their HD keys are miles nicer than JMA ones

3 - They post stuff out in nice cardboard boxes

4 - I get the impression their mortice keys are more old school English and less likely to wear my blades out than SKS own brand mortice keys which can be awful. The welds on SKS own brand mortice keys are often terrible as well.

Just my tuppence. Meant to be constructive. I think we're going to be using DB more in the months and years to come.  :-)
