StevenB
So, anybody else stocking these this year? How are they going? I took a punt having been asked last year & bought 24 pairs of Birch's Magic Spiker & 12 pairs of Shoestring's Wintertrax. This week I sold the last ones from stock & am now waiting for further supplies. And this despite not having had any snow yet \:D/ Bring on the wintery weather! petercoulson
most of the shops I have been around are selling these and in good quantities. Another gimmicky but well selling thing I saw just the other day is touch screen addict gloves similar to these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Etouch-Touchscreen-Blackberry-Samsung-smartphones/dp/B005RP7NZI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1324132540&sr=8-

StevenB
The way it was told to me was that Shoestring sold out of their initial batch, re-ordered a much bigger quantity & got them at a better rate. Either way, it's win-win for me!
derek
i have just bought 30 pairs of cheaper winter spikes as most of the customers here where complaining at paying £12 for a pair, cheaper ones i have got priced at £7, i'll see how well they sell over next few days as it's iced over here and seems to be staying for a few days more

Craig Gardner
I just moved a ton a rock salt from my garage to the shop today, loads more profit than spikey things. \:D/ deicers selling well this year, dumpy basket outside the shop & the stuff flies out. \:D/ Scrapers, Sledges & wellies all stocked up & selling consistently. \:D/ ive now shifted nearly 10 ton of rock salt retail from the shop in 20kg bags and over 100 sledges and only had a light flury of snow twice cant wait for it to fall and help shift the rest of the stock. not enough profit in shoe spikes so i dont sell them. craig
StevenB
not enough profit in shoe spikes so i dont sell them. craig Silly answer. I've got an extra £500 in my till in the last 6 weeks because of these. \:D/ As we're not in the trade section, I won't say how much of that is profit, but it's sufficient... Stanley Mishap
Be aware Asda are selling Wintertrax at £8.00 a pair same product same packaging.....`what!`stores are selling magic spikers for £4.50 a pair same product same packaging...as we are selling both these at £14.95 and £10.00 respectively we were GUTTED to find this out `specially as we thought these were only specific to the shoe repair trade !!! ...also bearing in mind that these retail prices are roughly what we are paying from the warehouse...we have already had a `screamer` in demanding a refund (which I did`nt - but who can blame them when Asda are HALF the price !!!) hibsjo(SCO)
I've looked at rock salt and see it costs about the same retail as spikers. So you get your delivery of salt you then have to move it store it sell it Seems like hard work for the same profit? Ok if you've got pallet truck and warehouse to keep it in but I ain't. Steven I'm with you on this one our spikers have been like snow off a dyke. I ordered another 9 dozen today and we haven't had any white stuff yet! Carry on! the dutch cobbler
Same here. Sold allready around 150 pairs in the last month! And we didn't have snow yet. Last winter they were sold out, so people don't want to take a risk anymore and buy them now. \:D/
tommy
I'm gutted, pleased you are all doing well on the spikes, but I bought Birch's spikes to retail at £12.95 as RRP then found Bargain Buys shop in town selling identical spikes to ours (same packaging but without the Birch's sticker on the back) for £2.99 inc vat that is alot less than I paid for mine. Needless to say I still have loads left and look like a rip off merchant to boot. Tommy

I've had another 2 dozen delivered today & as i was walking out the door earlier, a woman bought 4 pairs. £40 ch-ching well done! we sold loads of them in november, in fact so much so bought 3 Box fulls off of Birch, as soon as they were delivered it slowed down and now we have snow none? I'm gutted, pleased you are all doing well on the spikes, but I bought Birch's spikes to retail at £12.95 as RRP then found Bargain Buys shop in town selling identical spikes to ours (same packaging but without the Birch's sticker on the back) for £2.99 inc vat This could be the reason ours are not moving, Asda - Argos etc; I sell them for £7-00 each - yesterday had to refund a couple of pairs, as the customer claimed they did not do the job? better than having a full blown row.
