Gray
I hate it they come in and tip a load of bits out and ask can you get this working, for a start I see too many batteries. I'm 71 tired of all this pish now. Part of me wants to tell them to feck off. kobblers and gavin

mrkeys
When these types of jobs come in I charge about 50% more than I normally would as you know its gonna be more hassle. I've put it on the chalk board outside the shop as well "We repair what your husband has fixed" You would be surprised at what weird and wonderful things come in off the back of it. grahamparker
Easy fix as long as you get it working, but if it was a regular customer i would have done it for a donation to our Charity box. I have had thousands of locks brought in in bits over the years mostly mortice and rim but a fair few Rim cylinders and Euro cylinders as well, even some i had never seen before and it does take a while to figure out where everything fits. Never charged if they are regular customers it's how you build up business in the long run with free word of mouth advertising (the best you can get). Customers really like the personal touch nowadays rather than a grunt or moan, keeps us busy anyway. kobblers and EST

crystal-engravers
In response to a comment in a post above "We repair what your husband has fixed" I came across this online during the summer. Outside a Greek yacht chandlery. Brought a smile to my face. Great thing is it's applicable to virtually any trade.
