Bag of Bits.

When these types of jobs come in I charge about 50% more than I normally would as you know its gonna be more hassle.

I've put it on the chalk board outside the shop as well "We repair what your husband has fixed" You would be surprised at what weird and wonderful things come in off the back of it.

Easy fix as long as you get it working, but if it was a regular customer i would have done it for a donation to our Charity box.

I have had thousands of locks brought in in bits over the years mostly mortice and rim but a fair few Rim cylinders and Euro cylinders as well, even some i had never seen before and it does take a while to figure out where everything fits.

Never charged if they are regular customers it's how you build up business in the long run with free word of mouth advertising (the best you can get).

Customers really like the personal touch nowadays rather than a grunt or moan, keeps us busy anyway.
