Bren
When you've cleaned the machines after a hard days graft and you're ready for home. or a pint, how come somebody always comes in and wants 3 Rim keys cutting? Or a fancy stiletto re-heel on a .95 tube with the pin heads walked off? Mike at Vauxhall and kobblers

The Worksop Heel Bar
I've had someone bang on the back door of the shop after I'd put the shutters down and ask "Are you closed?" Really! The shutters being down wasn't obvious enough! Bren
grahamparker
I open up and take the money, i would work until midnight if a customer wants something desperate. The only exception is when i have to be somewhere. Money is profit at the end of the day. Bren, Durban and Auto Key Wizard

If it is keys i charge exactly the same. A few years back on a saturday a guy walked in just after 1pm (we close at 1pm). He bought 3 security chains and i think 5 padlocks and extra keys he spent over £450.00 and it took me 15 minutes to serve him. He is now a very regular loyal customer. Flexibility is the best way to be especially in the current climate. Bren

Mike at Vauxhall
I've been stopped more than once on my way home. If I'm close to my shop, I'll go back. (Unless I have another appointment). If I'm not that close, I'll say pick it up tomorrow (a watch) or come in tomorrow. If I'm in the shop, I'm open, irregardless of my opening hours. Mike. I only do 20 odd hours open but phone and laptop are always pinging with work.

cobblers.keys
I get people coming passed my shop all hours walking their dog or on their way from work many times after 5pm. I always leave my door and lights on until I leave often after 6pm and they often ask are you open? I always say if I'm here then I'm open. Took good money sometimes tbh. I will be in work again over this bank holiday weekend doing rearranging and no doubt people will come in for jobs. If they don't get served by me they will go somewhere else eg supermarket T's.
