Model and year of vehicle?
Does a valid Red master exist?
The PATS red master system will have a minimum of 3 keys coded (1 red and 2 black
An additional 13 keys may be coded using the master to make a total of 16

Thanks.
1996 Ford Escort
I have the Red Master Key
Originally Two normal black Keys, although one key misplaced.

That’s great thanks but I mean the programming of the key / transponder from a key programming perspective.

I was led to believe I needed Red Master key otherwise can not add a new key but when making enquiries, I’m being told programming via Red Master key, is obsolete now and no one does it, and I must get an existing key cloned.

Cos of type the Car, I’d prefer to get a genuine Ford key from Ford but Ford say they don’t cut key anymore ?

Can I not just buy a key from Ford and have the key cut by a key cutter and program the key to the myself using the Red Master Key or am I better off just having an existing key cloned

If you can find a genuine Ford key with a red insert you can program yourself. Just need a local key cutter to cut it for you which may prove harder than obtaining a blank. Many key cutters for some bizzare reason refuse to cut customer supplied keys. We cut thousands and are more than happy to go so.

You have confirmed you have the red master key (the plastic head is completely red)
All you need is one or more keys with 4C tranponders and they can be coded manually using the procedure above

Yeah, I have completely Red Master Key and Fords can supply a genuine Ford Key with transponder but local Ford dealers and two other say they don’t cut keys anymore and recommend local key cutters who suggest cloning my existing key, as programming key into car is no longer done.

I guess it’s because cloning is so easy now

the old ways and skills have been mostly lost

i dont understand the new guys not investing time in traditional skills like impressioning , hand picking , overlifting , lock stripping and in particular key rules and series info , key reading and blank selection as all needed skills to avoid walking away.

one was moaning that he had wasted all his stock of blanks for a car as his machine decoded wrong cuts , yet a quick look at the cuts tells you exactly what key to cut without wasting keys.

when no lishi , no menu to follow they have no idea so turn to facebook rather than learn it but one day all those with these skills will have retired and there will be no help .

the old skills are essential and are actually enjoyable to learn.

Yeah, I have completely Red Master Key

Firstly, there is no need to Quote to reply to the last comment.

Order a key either from Ford or the eBay seller (Official Ford Store is a genuine parts supplier) I use them
Have the key cut at a local key cutting shop
Then code it yourself, Simples

Any more further comments and I guess it's just to Torment us.
