Stanley Mishap
Controversial I know - but as of Monday last , I've taken all steel/pewter tankards and hip flasks off sale .... They're old and dated and the last tankard I've sold was last August (2 hip flasks Christmas) ....I used to do a few of both every week 15 years ago ....but as now people drink beer outta bottles and 18 year olds don't want a tankard or flask - I feel it's time for me to ditch it completely.... I now only offer a single boxed GLASS tankard as an option ... The shop now looks more brighter and modern and I'm going to concentrate more on what we do best (shoe repairs and key cutting) ...of course now i post this - someone will add 'I engrave 40 tankards a week !' 😆😆😆 gavin, Mike at Vauxhall, k4mrc and 1 other

Michael
Last September I decided I would cut my range of tankards and hip flasks down and try some nice crystal drinkware instead. I opened an account with Dartington Crystal and bought about £600 worth of glasses as well as a £1000 lit cabinet to show it nicely.....NOT SOLD A SINGLE PIECE!!! kobblers
Paul_
I sell about a hip flask and a tankard a month. We are in a military town though so they mostly sell as leaving presents. Very occasionally I sell tankards in 10s as presentation awards. I have small shelf in the cabinet for hip flasks and one for tankards so its not a problem keeping them. I also sell glass tankards and they sell about the same rate as the pewter/stsainless. kobblers
Graham
You can buy a hip flask on ebay with free engraving and free postage for £6.99. It's no wonder we don't sell many any more. I don't understand why people do this sort of thing, they can't be making anything from it. £6.99 minus eBay fees of 72p, minus Paypal fees (say 40p) minus postage (large letter say £2.60 without envelope cost but could be franked) = £3.27 left over which you have to buy the hip flask from and engrave. I expect there's a tankard for similar. kobblers

So are you offering your old stock as a bulk sale price if so how much and have you got a pic. I still do well with tankards and flasks in the shop. But even better on line Craig kobblers
Mike at Vauxhall
Your first customer on monday will , rather annoyingly, want an engraved pewter tankard. kobblers and k4mrc
