Count Muppet
I know it's a bit defeatist, but if it's for a lock in a foreign country and not normally seen here, i tell them to get them cut locally. Some of these keys will take a couple of weeks to come in, and if they don't work when they get there they will be super pi@@ed off. To me it's just sensible that you'd get them done locally just in case.
Mike at Vauxhall
Not available in that country, it's for a friend/relative as well. Worth a punt. I won't be charging anyway. They'll have to cut it in Philippines. Wouldn't normally do it, unless I could get a 100% positive I'd.

ponsaloti
If a key comes in and we don't have it, we ID it and buy 5 and hang them on the wall. We probably have the biggest assortment of blanks on the Essex Riviera. Our customers Know this so they come to us 1st. kobblers and almeriasecure

Mike at Vauxhall
Even though the keys may be fairly standard, do you charge extra when ordering just five keys? As you generally get a price break at 10, you may end up with dead stock and because you are the only one around with the key?
grahamparker
If i have to buy 5 i will charge the customer for 2 as this covers the cost and makes us a little profit and keeps another loyal customer the rest go on a peg. If i have to buy 10 then it goes up to 3 keys, as long as i don't lose money and even make a small profit it is customer satisfaction that makes them come back time after time. Call it a loss leader if you like. Just ordered some Anker Las keys in for Dong Energy after they had been to a lot of other locksmiths all around Hull, Scunthorpe and Grimsby and i was the only one prepared to get them in and cut them. Hopefully they will come to me for future sales as wind energy is booming in this area especially in the North sea. keithm, kobblers, Mike at Vauxhall and 1 other
