my word is my bond, some customer's word doesn't mean s***

Customer dropped some shoes in on tuesday. Definitely Wanted them for Friday. Said she will collect them about 5ish on thursday, very , very important they are ready. I said I close at 4.45pm, but if you want me to wait around until 5.10 or so, I will wait ( temporarily forgetting thursday is my wife's birthday, and I should really close on time.). I gave her contact details if she was running late, once again she stressed the importance of them being ready at 5. Well, guess what she didn't turn up or call, I waited until 5.40 for her.

Happens every week, take the money up front then don't give a shit if they come back on time.

I don't understand why you waited.

If you told her your closing time then it's her fault. If a customer calls me and says they are on there way then i will wait but never on the off chance they might turn up.

Maybe I am a bit of a patsy, but she promised she would collect them on thursday evening. She said it was very important to her. (Obviously it actually wasn't.

Without knowing the customers circumstances it's difficult to judge, maybe she was involved in an accident, maybe her child was taken seriously ill, something may have happened to change her priorities. In that case I would sympathise with her, but if she has simply forgot or couldn't be bothered then charge her for your additional time.

I tell them when they are ready and once six o'clock comes the shutters are down and it's over for the day. I have a life too and a 5 year old daughter to go home to.

The one that gets me though is when they say they are going on holiday tomorrow and really need them back today. I do the job and they don't come back for a couple of days like nothing has happened. I do take the money up front if they want express then I don't really care when they come back. Put myself under pressure too many times to do it on the off chance they may be back when they say.

I must breathe.
