keysinthecity
Walked past a Timpson's yesterday and noticed a pillar drill in prime position on the front counter. Fitted with a fancy drill bit. What do they use these for, anybody know? I wondered if it was for drilling locks - just a guess.
Cromwell
According to the Timpsons that used to be next to me it's there because they aren't aloud a hand held drill. So gets used for drilling stiletto pins and anything else they need a drill for.
Count Muppet
Lol. Why would you need to drill a lock if it's not in the door? Like Cromwell said, they are used on stilettos

keysinthecity
or you could use a big screwdriver Yep. Although older (better made) locks more resistant to this!
x minit uk
They insist that you use it to drill out stiletto heels, it's part of their H&S policy. If you are caught not using it you can be disciplined and have your bonus reduced.
Count Muppet
Don't see why you wouldn't use one. Much easier than trying to do it with a normal drill. More control and definitely safer
worcesterlocksmith
They don't trust there employees with a hand held drill for just incase they try and drill the shop safe open . After giving them a 2nd chance from prison . Or just the scary thought of a Timpsons employee working with a handheld drill scary kobblers and Lock Stock
Lee
I agree a pillar drill is far, far easier for drilling stilettos out with. kobblers

Count Muppet
If he wasn't trusted with the keys in the first place, it would be a waste of time drilling it open because he wouldn't have been able to put anything in there anyway keysinthecity
keysinthecity
Never heard of a safe deposit box? We use them here. Employees can deposit pellets, only management can retrieve. Very handy.

I use a hand held, but years ago when working for Mister Minit I managed to drill right through my finger in one side and out the other! Smarted a bit! While u wait pair of shoes. Pretty much messed the heel up too! I think the tube was a soft alloy and it just went straight through the side. x minit uk
