Craig Gardner
Needs a bit of work the logo is in outline but two lines not close enough as it has only been dragged by a diamond leaving two chipped lines not meeting together properly maybe one day you will give up on is200 for glass and engrave them properly Craig
hibsjo(SCO)
thats a tad unfair Craig if the diamond is used right it should be fine lasering is better sandblasting is the way to go however the image should have been sublimated onto the glass as i feel this is the way things are going, a lot of people want the image as is? discuss........ carry on! Gray
Although the basic image is there a lot of detail seems to have been lost from Lee's drawing. I agree sublimation would have been better. I've had some good work done by Transworld Trophies.
shadowster
the logo had far too much detail , lee had took about 70 percent of the unneeded lines and i took out about 20 percent most of them dots right back to a basic out line . by no means is it the finished article i will be taking more out and adding stuff in, the diamond i was using was fecked and has been posted away to get resharpened will stick a photo up when i do the next one ,
Forest Cobbler
I'm impressed that you managed to get such good results from a knackered diamond. Even with a new one we found that it would skid over some areas entirely leaving them unmarked. Fortunately we've had a sand blasting cabinet for years, but we'd hoped to be able to do the odd urgent glass engraving job on the Universal. You're getting your diamond resharpened? Didn't know you could do that. Valerie
Michael
Slowing your "x" feed rate down to about 0.1-0.3mm per second should stop the diamond skidding and give it time to bite into the glass. You can't sharpen glass diamonds as they are minute diamond particles bonded onto the tip. I just buy a new when it's knackered! Unless they're using a faceted diamond!! shadowster
shadowster
New diamond Well a sharpened one, and it was fine £26,00 from pantograph services . Just get the tension right too light or wore out and it skids to tight and it chips , use plenty of furniture polish and it should be fine

Lee
Careful I got in trouble for doing that vector for the hell of it. You'll have a load of back lash for actually engraving it! grahamparker

Done on Umarq universal 300. .003 burnishing diamond and Mr Sheen. Silver rub & buff Looks good but that's the advantage of a umarq machine your settings must of took ages to engrave I would have lasered but if doing rotary I would change settings to retract 4 depth2 chip2 feed 15.0 feed z 15.0 spindle 7000 no need to spend so much time with the machine retracting to 10mm if engraving 2mm depth 4mm retract will clear glass inbetween engraving points slow spindle down to 7000 rpm to reduce noise whilst engraving depth and chip at 2 fine for engraving in one pass 1sewc dwell fine for time to spray mr sheen before engraving starts feed and z feed with a good diamond can run at max speed at 15 craig
Lee
Sounds complicated. Here I do the logo. Pop the glass in the machine and make it sing to me. The vector and a glass is run of the mill to a gravograph user.

Craig Gardner
Craig made it complicated. It ain't complicated its just with the engraving experience that my guys and me have using 9 engravers all day every day even Sundays now and with the brilliant vistool software you get to know how the machine works and change settings and alter bits to engrave better and faster than we could only dream of with a Gravograph machine that's why my 10th engraver that we will probabaly buy in June will be another umarq machine with vistool.
