stevecoco
Just doing a load of trophies for my local pool league, last couple of years they have been done by my local Timpsons 30 miles away. Can I ask why the f*ck do you put the plates on with loads of tape knowing full well they will have to come off again next year for engraving. Rant Over
Dean
Yup. Annoying isn't it. I normally just end up ripping the old one off and cutting a new plate to size and re-engraving it all.
ANDY
yes...grrr....a bit either end will suffice or even worserer when the customer uses those sticky white labels on top of where you need to engrave
Count Muppet
The new plates come in like that don't they? Just peel back off and stick it on
stevecoco
No Wage slave, I'm talking about large bespoke ones say 100 x 40 then stuck on the base with a total covering of tape, you end up virtually destroying the plate getting it off. Lee
polyester thread, loop right round the outside, then pull the two ends across each other & off the pop no damage. simples.
grahamparker
I'm with Dean on this one, just rip it off and engrave a new piece of plate. Customers plates are usually scratched to sh*t anyway if they are more than 1 year old so they are happy you have done a nicer job without charging extra. StevenB
I really get pissed off as Andy says when they helpfully put the sticker with the engraving details over the top of where it is to go - "so you know where to engrave the trophy". 'cos of course, I couldn't work out where it was to go, I mean following on from the previous year is a really hard concept for me to grasp isn't it. And do they really have to be permanent stickers so that they come off in about a hundred pieces meaning I have to write down all the names before shredding the sticker? I really hate that. rant over.

Sometimes quicker to bung a new plate on than set it all up measuring size of font etc.................... Oh and save it incase you get it next year. chrisorros
Lets not forget when you get a shield going on some years with plates/shields that still have the protective film. That over the years has made a molecular base attachment to metal that can't be removed with any tool know to man! .............well maybe it can be removed but it still a pain
