Danny King
Hi, We are doing so many watch strap ajustments at mo from people buying watches online and that out local Argos won't alter watches they sell now. We charge £2.50 per job but starting to think this is too cheap, What are you guys charging? Danny

keithm
£2 more than you would have done prior to this post. So have you ripped the customer off, as some would say, or charged the going rate The latter for me
Forest Cobbler
We charge £6 for expanders, no matter how many links are coming out, one link is much more hassle than 6 with expanders. £3.50 for a single link in a bracelet strap or £5.50 for two or more. We don't make a second charge if the customer brings it back to have another link taken out or to have one put back in, ( quite often the customer is not the person who will be wearing the watch). And we would never charge to take links out of a strap, or watch, that we had sold in the first place, that's just wrong. Valerie
Irontoe
How can you charge by the link !!!!!!!!!! to take 4 links out, is EXACTLEY the same job as taking 2 out.... BUFFOONERY at its best. Well, not quite. Presumably if it a braclet with a clasp rather than an expander you would remove two links from each side, effectively twice the work involved than if you were just removing one link from one side. However, I charge £6.95 for watches bought elsewhere (no charge for those watches bought from me) and generally speaking it is always manic after Christmas!
