Lee
Sorry all current links have .php somewhere in them, this is following the complete deletion of the old site, and the introduction of the all new interactive site a few months ago. Any links ending html will have been deleted at that time. I have just scouted around my computer and can't find a copy of the letter either, I will try and find the original later today. Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
Just been trolling a site in the USA and they have not eard of quarter steels!! They are on about sinking segs into the heels so that the customer cant feel them as they walk. I thought they were more advanced than us but obviously not. ironplanet uk900
Birches do a decent Rubber 1/4 steel. and its cheeper than Fussels. Personally I never rated their stuff anway. The moulds were older than a conker tree, all the tread was flawed on their ribbed stuff. and it didn't wear well
Lee
Sorry for the delay getting the letter back on, thanks to Rick for sending the original copy to me, I have had to format my computer so its taken a couple of weeks to get my image software back on. here the original letter

Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
Why not ask you local repairer to get a box for you at your expence. you pay for the stock then give him 1 pair each time you need the shoes repairing..... he charges you normal price less the cost of the stock. Try him, put the suggestion to him and see what his reaction is.

Guest lee.
Colledge have "000" 1/4 tips , but only with PVC body
janner
3½" Combinettes used to come with 0000 tips. I still have a few loose 0000 tips left, which I will only use on leather heel ¼ iron. It's just not right to scour in a heel to match 000 tips on quality footwear. Can't get loose tips any more, or felt fillers, or a variety of other small demand, but essential when needed goods. I could make more profit by replacing foot care with engraving goods, but as a shoe repairer this is part of the service that is basic to offer. I miss the days when suppliers also took the same attitude, when supplying of low profit basics went hand in hand with bulk profit sales.
