Good bye Kiki polish

Recommended Posts

To me the option now are.

Charles birch own brand. Probably what I'll go for.

Cherry blossom. Now in Red tins. It's already called cherry. Customers think it's red. Readily available at a lower price that you would want to sell it for.

Saphir and angelus. Just a bit too pricey.

Dasco. Colour on the lid doesn't always match inside. I really hate that.

I also see Birch are selling something called London shoeshine wax??? No pictures yet.

I have some Saphir wax that I'll keep a few basic colours, but at £6 per tin I won't sell much.

I'm going to up my range of creams and push them more. I currently stock TRG from Birch, good colour range and they're a stronger pigment than wax.

Selling them at £4.50.

Yes. I do the TRG creams too.Black obviously and a good spectrum of browns/tans, To fill in the gaps on the browns, plus red, grey, blue. but it's also a fairly easy upsell .

When I was still trading, I used to upsell my creams by pointing out that they penetrate much deeper and are therefore more effective, plus, as they're not totally wax based, the leather is less susceptible to cracking from hardened wax. If they still weren't convinced, I used to explain that it also has a lovel woodland fresh type of smell as people are always conscientious about smelly shoes. It rarely failed.

The only ones I found to ba absolute crap were the oranges, yellows, pinks, pale colours, and metallics as they never seemed to provide any decent colour.

I also used to order colour charts from Birch and charge a couple of quid deposit for the customers to borrow them to take home to compare the shoes against the colour chart. This worked especially well on people wanting to touch up leather furniture.

Rick.

Strangely though, parade gloss is available from Ocadeo online and is still listed as available on SC Johnson website (the supplier in the UK)

Also, 3 new listings on eBay with parade gloss at reasonable prices all have just a few sales as new listing (eg, not been selling from previous stock it seems).

I have emailed Johnsons to see if they are still able to supply. I was told Kiwi were looking for an exclusive supermarket deal so maybe that is Ocadeo???

In a garrison town like mine this a big miss, I'm trying lots of different brands to see if anything will satisfy their needs.

Hi Paul,

Thank you for contacting SC Johnson. in regards to the availability of Kiwi products.

After a thorough evaluation, SC Johnson (SCJ) has decided to exit the Shoe Care business in the UK in order to redirect our investments and resources to the company’s strategic businesses and initiatives. With this decision, Kiwi will no longer be distributed by SCJ in this market.

We hope you find this information helpful and if we can be of assistance in the future in regards to our other brands (Glade, Oust, Duck, Mr Muscle, Pledge, Raid) please let us know.

Kind regards,
