jayke
Hi Everyone, Ive been engraving only around 3 months now using a Gravograph m20 and the gravostyle 7 software The problem im having is engraving the nickel plated YoYo's i just cant seem to get it anywhere central I either get the engraving over to the left slightly or too high and i just dont know what im doing wrong, This is the first round object ive tried to do but i must be doing some thing wrong. Im telling the machine that it is a 53mm x 53mm engraving area is this what im doing wrong? As i dont think i can tell the software im engraving a circle object ie 53mm diameter or can i? Ive seen the section to engrave on an arc but i dont want to do that just straight lines. Id appreciate some help or even better if anyone has a template they could email me? Many Thanks
safelycrackers
Just put the template we use in the downloads section. Its from Gravo 5 but should open in yours I think. Goodluck!
Count Muppet
Use engraving tape to test the engraving first
kev
Use the point and shoot laser to mark out your engraving area first. Any problems PM me your details Kev
chas47
Hi, Just go into auto mode, you can then move your text about to get it in the correct position. Run the laser pointer to check before engraving. If I can be of any more help, PM me. Regards Charlie.

Lee
I won't be marking any of my customers items with anything!
Gray
So I take it Gravo software just goes to the beginning of the engraving..Vistool software sends the cutter to the centre of the engraving first enabling you to line up the job without the need draw little circles and marking the item. hibsjo(SCO)
so if its 53mm x 53mm youve got a square the m20 automatically centres your job with set margins make sure its a "new" job and not something thats been saved previously! the red eye will ghost the job for you first. whats the job you wanting done and ill set it up on my m20 and see where your going wrong also what yoyo is it your trying to engrave(product code from what supplier) carry on! Dean
I'd enter the width and height of the job. In this case, 53 x 53mm Then draw a circle in the software going right to the edges of the work area. Enter text ensuring none of it's outside the circle. Delete the circle/or select everything except the circle Send job to machine Engrave. if the machine is set up properly and the yoyo is clamped centrally then it should be fine! kev
Lee, It is perfectly acceptable to mark items sometimes when you need to. One of my best friends over the years has been a Chinagraph Pencil.
Lee
I didn't say it was unacceptable I just said I wouldn't be marking any of my customers items with anything. Never needed to.
StevenB
I use masking tape if I feel it will be helpful to put marks on an item. Problem solved.
