Dean
Technically you should not engrave a champagne bottle and I would not think any engraving machine suplier would sell their machine as being suitable for such a process. You have a positive pressure inside the bottle and you could get stress fractures migrating from your engraving. If you think about it a sheet of glass is pretty strong until you score it with a point and then it snaps quite easily. The glass on a wine/champagne bottle is pretty thick and tough aswell. The chances of breaking one is MINIMAL. More chance of breaking a thin Royal Scot Champagne Flute, for example...does that mean we should stop engraving those aswell? Lee
I observe & listen to a lot of tricks from the forum, act on a few & remember others...... today I acted engraved 2 x champagne bottles, 1 with the label removed, 1 with it still on. Now OBVIOUSLY having read this topic & followed the results of this months poll, I took all necessary precautions to avoid a shattering experience from damaging my machine One squirt of Psssssssst (something I learnt in the chat room a while back) Bit of Rub & Buff (something else I picked up here) & the bottles are in the window. ANOTHER STRING TO MY BOW. Thank you gentlemondos Lee
