Russell
I see a british company selling a new patcher for £499...copy of a singer 29k. Anyone bought one and happy with it? The price for the Ankai, is £499.00 plus P&P plus VAT, please see link http://www.sew-europe.co.uk/ankai_2972.htm
StevenB
I've not seen these before - I bought STANDARD'S version last year for approximately twice the price. Still a bargain in my opinion. Remember you get what you pay for
St.Am92
There's worse things to spend £500 on. Don't think you can go wrong at that price. Parts interchangeable with a 29k,might be worth ringing to see if they'll loan one out for a trial period to see how well they operate.
Russell
I was thinking it may be worth a punt at that price, after all it is CE marked
keithm
We have been offered 29k copies on many occasions over the last 10 years, most fail to impress after being substantially tested. We have sold almost 100 of our Manual Patcher's in just over a year and can report no failures. You pays your money and takes your choice Russell

Russell
A point of interest: I checked out the requirements of CE marking a product. It seems that some unsavoury chinese companies mark CE on their products...... CE standing for CHINESE EXPORTER !!!!!!
Russell
Having spoken to Keith I decided to buy Standards patcher. I do believe you get what you pay for!
Gray
Sensible choice and you will get backup.
StevenB
Of course, now (assuming you're upgrading from an old Singer) you'll have to get your treadle painted to match the new head like THIS. I've done this too & it's a great finishing touch.
grahamparker
You missplaced the 'W'

ironplanet uk900
To be honest, If I was gunna buy a new machine, I would buy from a British company, not only would you get after sales backup, but your supporting our trade and the future of our brothers. I know they are not British made machines whoever you buy from, but thats because we never supported our own in the first place.
Gray
I would buy everything British If I could...........Sadly there isn't a lot left to buy that is British... ........I do drive a Ford though.....but is that British?....old Henry was a yank.. StevenB
Only if you are slightly anal. You call it anal, I like to think of it as attention to detail. And besides a shiny new beige patcher on a grimy old black treadle would just look crappy.
