petercoulson Posted February 28, 2011 Report Share Posted February 28, 2011 Rick, they burn wood, not cut through it. cut metal? no unless you get a YAG laser, engravers tend to use co2 which is for burning materials (or removing). You control the power settings for each material so 2 ply you would set to melt through the top surface leaving the under colour to come through and good for cutting shapes. much faster, finer detail if needed. Means you can also do rubber stamps quickly and accurately. As for price they vary a lot but tend to be a bit more expensive but you get bigger engraving area so like for like they could work out cheaper than equivalent sized engraver.
