Danny King
Was driving home tonight and passed the local Johnsons and nearly crashed, signs eveywhere saying they are doing shoe repairs. The Johnsons store is on the same road as my shop and is a old petrol station they converted. So I went back with the wife and she popped in to ask prices etc. They pull out a pricelist with Charles Birch and the elf logo across the top. They said they wouldn't be doing this service on the premises but they would be sent out to be done. Please can this be right? What has Chris Wilson got against me. First they open a store near me and now in the same road. I will be contact Chris tomorrow morning and demanding answers. Unless he reads this and gives me answer on here. This better not be true
Gray
Bloody hell Danny how much more bad news can we both take in one day! I sympathise mate I know how you feel. I wonder where all the machinery is coming from?
kobblers
Sheeeeeeeesh. I sincerely hope this isn't true. I can understand Birch needing to expand into a different arena if business is suffering but to open in the immediate vicinity of one of your customers is very below the belt. I'll be discussing this with Iain tomorrow and if this turns out to be true then I'm going to see if Iain'll will be happy to switch to Healy as our main supplier. Rick. Rick. if thats the case we should all use someone else and let birch retail instead of wholesale i met chris at leeds about a year and a half ago he was a nice helpful guy but i ended up using colledges as my main supplier for most stuff and sks for keys colledges web site is great and they seem to nearly always have what i need in stock unlike birch. craig
Guest lee.
check out the Key systems in Johnsons outlets that are already up and running with Keys , looks like the Elfman has been in with them for some time , but at the end of the day someone has to be supplying them , and CB are market leaders, if they did not someone else would be in like a shot . discodave
ha ha spoke to chris wilson the other day about selling him my shop that i hadnt opened yet (finders fee type of deal) and the first thing that came out of his mouth was we dont open up against independants even thou he opened up a shop near to me a few years before why do people use his company for supply, surely they must realise that he can see what your taking then use his money to get a better position than you therefore attempting to put you out of business !!! nice guy i know loads of suppliers with a far better service and also a bit cheaper and they aint gonna come and steal your customers chris will tell you this is just business and then go ride his bike or something. Gray
If that is the case Danny then I will NOT be dealing with Birches in the future, not that it will make a huge difference to him but maybe if enough stop buying off him he might get the message. 3D Group
We closed our account about 8 years ago when they started buying shops and retailing even though no shop near me. It all comes to bite you back in the end Charles Birch.
Auto Key Wizard
In the light of Danny King's latest Topic, HERE Would you be prepared to close your account with Charles Birch on principal? Edited by moderator Terrence you have already been told we are not having a poll on this!

k4mrc
it isn't just directed at you - i was in worcester at the weekend and 2 doors from timpson there is a johnsons and they have the keys kitted out and it looks good. thing is that same branch used to be sketchleys who tried it as a heel bar, guess what - it flopped and so badly it cost them more in wages! so really it aint all what it seems, they are spending money and a lot of those shops will do no good!
