decker
i always file down the edges of tibbe because of this happening. have a wiggle and pull about and it should come out or turn key to position 1, depress plunger and strip ignition
Michael
Normally its the little spring loaded dust cap that catches the key.Use a thin piece of metal or a pick to just push it in and release the key.I file the edges where the cuts meet to make sure this doesn't happen. Lee
Give the lock a squirt with oil then get a pair of pliers & give it a good tug! should come out, then file the edge as describe here. viewtopic.php?f=30&t=2826&p=29251&hilit=tibbe#p29251 Lee

k4mrc
has any one actually told why this has happened? it's usually because your machine has taken off a little too much, if one looks down the top side of the key after cutting, one should see a small line all the way to the nose of the key (uncut), if the cuts meet then the key 'jams' in ignition. i try to look at each key to assertain this before customer tries in ignition - saves all the bother! ponsaloti
Only reason this happens is because of the way the dust cover wears due to using worn keys then introducing a new (sharp) key.
Mick Friend
I agree with k4mrc thats my opinion, once I sussed this I never had another jam up.

Auto Key Wizard
As I have said before....it's all about machine setup, if the cutter touches anywhere along the key when set to "1" depth this not correct & adjustment needed. Also if there isn't uncut metal between the 2 & 3 depths, you will have this problem.
ponsaloti
Only reason this happens is because of the way the dust cover wears due to using worn keys then introducing a new (sharp) key. Should have added " if m/c is set correctly"
