Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
Iain give us the time & date that you will be dancing naked at the town hall so we can get the local news team on to it. There are a lot of old ladies and young girlies after that lad and its them who make up the majority in voting. Big tits Ruth got my vote every time. A lot of hot air being blown in the direction of a new poster, hope he can stand the heat and keep from getting scortched. Keep with us Tackhead they are just Pussycats realy. elfman
so tackhead you are guilty of double standerds then i.e if you had a quality watch you would not take it to a shoe repairers ,you would take it to a jewelers. so why dont you direct all these chefs with there knives to a qualified sharpener as some of there knives can be of a good quality and cost a few pounds and the same could be said for keys why not send them to a locksmith and the same for yor engraving. i will tell you why ecouse it puts money in your till , and thats exactly why the guys on here do watch repairs and i for one would use a few of them for any work i needed doing that i could not do myself ie .lee for watchs tell for keys and planet for engraving even though i have only used one of these guys a the moment i woul still trust the others to do a good job for me
Lee
just as a "Bi" product of this thread, I recently joined a forum & had a dig at something on it! as a member here it would have been OK, but as a newbie on another site my post where read differently to the way I'd written them & I was gunned down. keithm
Some bold statements there 'Tackhead', but be warned. You cast a blanket approach over the members of this Forum when you castigate them for following 'Timpsons' Many have made a good living out of it Please give them a little more respect as intelligent businessmen and Forum members, they only take on extra services that they believe will enhance there businesses =D> So the next brainwave idea will not neccasarily be adopted Be cautious in your tone, unless you enjoy falling on your own sword

Lee
By the way, I "watched" (lol) the seminars at the cuttingedge shows that Timpson put on about watch batteries (did you see them tackhead?) a few years ago & from this little acorn I grew a tree. I have put in 2 movements & 3 batteries this morning but haven't been so busy on shoes....... Thank you Mr Timpson for giving me your valuable time at the exhibition a few years ago. I don't think this would have affected you, but it has affected me! \:D/ & enhanced the entire industry. I think that from this small olive branch training I could now teach others a thing or two about the watch side of the industry. I now do... batteries, straps, strap adjustments, glass, movements, mechanical watch repairs, case polishing & cleaning and pressure testing keeps you busy don't it... Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
Me knifes a bit blunt from trying to cut round them big metal heels, you know Rimforts. Saw a demo in Tescos yestyerday, lady was sawing through a Hammer head with a filleting knife and bread knife to show how the steel never needed sharpening, got a fair bit into the hammer with a lot of filings, then proceeded to slice a tomato into wafer thin slices. I thought at the time "I wonder why xminit dont have those knives" If joe public can get knives that dont need sharpening why cant cobblers, would save a small fortune on sharpening time alone. ironplanet uk900
Put a miyota 2035 movement in a gents gold watch this afternoon, took me 20 minutes and and cost me £1.95 The cost to the customer was £47.50. Thats my fascination with watch repairs.
Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
I wish I could go to school for watch making and be able to make the parts on a mini lathe, I think it's facinating once you get past the straps and batteries. Much more interesting than Cobbling.
