ironplanet uk900
So from reading between the lines UK, Glenway were quite glad when you stopped buying from them so many years ago and you seem to have gotten a grip with your stocking levels Carry on! Never presume by reading between the lines Jo. For me it was a case of dealing with companies nearer to by business so that we could travel to them in emergency cases. As for my stock levels, I always cover most sports as far as trophies are concerned My point was, that to many don't keep any stock. So if a customer comes in for one trophy, they're stuffed cus they have to pay carriage and it ain't worth it. If your going to provide a service, do it properly or not at all. Guest tim.wilford@glenway.co.uk
It's the time of year when Glenway & all the other trophy wholesalers, get an ear bashing. By all means air your views, you pay your money & have that choice. You can however call me on the telephone & I will do whatever it takes to sort any problems. For everyones information, we take our customers seriously, they not only pay our wages ,they also over the years become friends. noone wants to let a friend down, or bite the hand that feeds you. The trophy trade is very seasonal, with massive peaks in april, may & june.We stock up for this time of the year, and staff up for this time of year. We are an established bussiness in a stable trade, so when we get a 20% increase in trade all the planning can go wrong. We now employ over 60 staff, who work a 3 shift pattern from 6am to 8pm We have 8 people answering the phone,we have invested in a massive new factory, which we will move to in september. We are currently dispatching 2500 orders per week.In our defence I don't feel we could perform any better than we have.If 6 people in the last 7 days have had a bad experience of Glenway, 2493 must have had a good experience. Are some anti Glenway messages, down to the fact that we trade heavily with a multi- national? Finally I am at the end of a phone if you need to talk
ironplanet uk900
I don't think its because you deal heavily with a multi national that is the problem for the disatisfied customers Tim. they seem to think its because of this that ,that your to busy for the independant. I personally don't hold an account with you, but have pointed out in previous posts that there is always two sides to a story. thanks for your reply. By the way welcome to the forum. Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
Interesting post tim and welcome, it opens ones eyes as to the sheer scale of the Wholesale supply in Engraving items. It is not all that often that we get a chance to have the logistics put to us, thanks.
Guest WOODY
As most of you know i am new to the engraving business, finding my way around and business is picking up quite well. I have been using two different suppliers for trophies one of which is glenway, and i must say i have no complaints with their service or products, they have called me back when they say they are going to, i find them easy and friendly to deal with and have delivered with no probs. I have also tried to open an account with another supplier (who received a good recomendation in an earlier post). after calling them every week for the last four weeks, being told that a rep will be in touch or a catalogue is in the post, im still waiting. Think i will stay with the ones who are giving me service.
ironplanet uk900
I ain't used em for 15 years or more, but its funny how someone can slate a company only for someone else to be totally happy. It maybe that the Company doesn't want to deal with that customer anymore cus he/shes a pain in the butt. Just a thought and not aimed at anyone in particular. People have slated Gravograph on this forum, but I personally have only experienced superb relations with them. As I said earlier in this post. It seems some people can't get on with suppliers and some can. In alot of cases it down to the retailer not the wholesaler Lack of stock. which means ordering small bits and pieces all the time. last minute ordering. leaving not time to get alternatives if the companies out of stock, which happens to all trophy suppliers from time to time. Not ordering correctly. or enough to allow for mistakes. etc etc etc Seen em a million times, knocking on my door....Have you got this, have you got that Then it gets to the stage were they use you as a wholesaler, just cus its easy, and you carry the stock to get em out of trouble all the time Same old guys day in day out.... They never learn, pull up outside ya shop in thier flash car..."av you got a football centre I can pinch off ya" JOKERS

Guest Iain Cheall
I'm having major problems with trend and as they are just up the road in newcastle I'm going to see them on Thursday. I emailled them and told them I was coming, asked if it was alright a week ago and I am still waiting for an answer so I am going anyway. In fact I am waiting for one of their sales team to ring me back from a call i made to them this morning at 11:15 when i was told he would ring back in 20 mins.
