Just realised I haven't sold one wallet  this year.  Never been a brilliant seller in my shop, but would expect to have sold 5/6 by now. Have they dropped in other shops, or is it just mine. Is this due to the increasingly cashless society. I have had enquires for credit card holders , but not getting them until I can get RFID ones.

I've sold a few mens wallets but seem to be getting asked for more ladies purses. Just topped up from CB so I'll see how they go.

A bugbear of mine with wallets and purses is displaying them!

In the packaging, out the packaging, individual stands on a shelf, dump basket.....Always look a bloody mess, especially after customers have rifled through, opened the packets and then just left them on top!!!

I have two slatwall baskets at the moment (1 ladies, 1 mens), what are you guys doing display wise?

I haven't used a wallet for years, no point carrying a phone and a separate wallet when you can get phone cases that double up as a wallet. Might be worth considering stocking.

Any suppliers?

I've looked for phone cases but the best range seems to be Aliexpress or other chinese importers and I've never been down this route before so a little unsure!

We've got a whole shelf of wallets and purses etc. in lots of different colours and styles, and they sell pretty well all year round. It's all the random bits like travel pass holders, tray purses & coin holders that help to keep it all ticking over.

Anything that came in with a box is marked with a coloured dot on the price label, then boxes are similarly marked and stored in trays on the floor under the bottom shelf. Usually we can then find the appropriate box for each item fairly quickly. Definitely would not display them in a box, that's asking for trouble. Apart from the fact that we find our customers tend to ignore anything in a box.

I used to get lots from Oxford Leathercraft but they started to get alittle expensive for my customers tastes.

I wish they had an e-commerce website so I could browse and add stuff at my leisure. I would probably order more that way rather than compiling a list and typing out each code in an email or ringing up and going through the list!!!

Does my head in!

Fortunately we have a rep come to us about three times a year. They do have an 'affordable range' which helps to keep the costs down on some items, but there is a minimum order quantity of each style which is a bit annoying.

Mudassar lives in Essex and comes to us every 5 weeks with a van of stock to choose from. Depending on where you are he might be able to come to you too. His phone number is 07944 870930 if you want to check.

Do I guess it's just me that can't sell wallets for s**t then. Damn.

You're on a train station, aren't you? That probably makes a difference to what your customers are looking for. We're in a small, struggling, shopping centre with little or no competition when it comes to leather goods, so in that way we're quite lucky.

I expect you do better on other stuff.
