JR - Shoe repairer of the year award.

Recommended Posts

I doubt it Mick, but it gives me something to do!

You should see the shoes I'm doing I brought them off Ebay for £8.50 & to be honest how anyones got the cheek to even offer them for sale is beyond me. If you was a genuine buyer you'd have been gutted even at throwing £8.50 away. However they where perfect for what I was looking for! holes in the middles, holes in the uppers & numerous previous repairs. which is why I probably won't do well with them. I expect I'll be maked down for doing to much work! probably not in keeping with a the ruling

"The completed entry should be as close to a NORMAL repair carried out by the entrant"

Although the work doesn't seem extraordinary to me.......

As soon as the judges have made their decision we contact  the  placed winners to suggest that it would be to their advantage to go to Sandown but without divulging the final positions.  We normally take a selection of entries to display on the Rendenbach stand to allow those interested to see the skill and craftsmanship that goes into an entry.

It wasn't me! I came no where this time, but to be fair I only entered to support it. My heart wasn't in it really. I've been much busier this year so couldn't really give the shoes the time. So Robin, who won? got any pictures?

Entries must be in no later than Friday September 16th.

In terms of what you do........... do the best job you know how too. I've tried both ways, but have usually found my best marks on on shoes I try nothing new on.

Just send me your details and address and I will forward an info pack and the necessary materials.

How you complete your entry is entirely up to you but the judges do not give extra marks for artistic embellishment. The entries are judged on strict criteria which are explained in the guidelines included in the pack.  In my own opinion, less is more. Accuracy and skill and following the instructions count for the highest marks.

To the best of my knowledge none of the previous winners of this competition have entered this year so it really is wide open for  new entrants to have a go and win the prizes.

Its always difficult to show clearly in photographs but if you visit the exhibition and actually look closely at the winning entries you will be able to see just  how skilful some people can be. And the judges do examine each entry very carefully. Generally the standard of ALL the entries is very good and some of those that didn't get in the top three should also be very proud of the quality of work they turn out.
