tommy
Had this customers Ingersoll key in last week and although the JMA ING-D did not look spot on in the book it was the nearest by a mile. As I have all the rest of the Ingersoll range (or so I thought) I ordered the ING-D blanks As you can see they are not the right blank for this one that I have never seen before. Any ideas, any blanks out there, gratefull customer awaits It has the lettering - 1M1556 on the head Cheers Tommy

tommy
I can assure you all that the above key is not any of the below I have all of these in stock and know the difference The customer is from 50 miles away and has tried "everywhere" the original is extremely thin and the middle flat section is very flat whereas the ones below all have at least a slight curve to them I have never seen it in 20 years of cutting keys Key Product Code Category Errebi ING8, Ingersoll Errebi ING8, IngersollKey equivalents: 7726,IG5,ING8,INGM HOOK7726 Household Keys Silca ING1, Orion IGL10 Silca ING1, Orion IGL10Key equivalents: 6001,IG2,IGL10,INGA HOOK6001 Household Keys Silca ING3, Orion IGL12 Silca ING3, Orion IGL12Key equivalents: 6013,IGL12,KB600 HOOK6013 Household Keys Silca ING5, Orion IGL14 Silca ING5, Orion IGL14Key equivalents: 6408,IG3,IGL14,INGS HOOK6408 Household Keys Silca ING6, Orion IGL15 Silca ING6, Orion IGL15Key equivalents: 6432,IG4,IGL15,INGN HOOK6432 Household Keys Silca ING4R, Orion IGL13L Silca ING4R, Orion IGL13LKey equivalents: 7196,IGL13L,ING7R HOOK7196 Household Keys
Mick Friend
There is one very old obsolete section - it fitted a nightlatch the cylinder of which was recessed into the door not the familiar circle on the outside or even the egg shape- The last cylinder I bought and that was 20 plus years ago was £70+ I think it was a 'M' section but WD40 needed. The common ones were A, N, S
HowardK
you will notice an M" section requires an authorization, so is most likely restricted...I would think... http://www.ingersollkeys.co.uk/index.htm http://www.ingersoll-keys.co.uk/ingersoll-keys/
Mick Friend
'D' section keeps nagging me These are all out of patent by 20 years no authorisation is required.
grahamparker
Ingersoll produced some cylinders for BT and i think that M maybee the one as they had them on all the exchanges around the country, they where also used by other utility companies before most of them switched to Abloy. Sure M was either BT or Anglian water. lock&quay
Aspects
I think historically M sections were Mastered and also Military. But is it not just JMA ING-M?
DC77
HD IG5 ? M section
HowardK
so this JMA's ING-M is it ?? we don't see much Ingersoll over here, I have never seen one nor is there much info in the Locksmith forums here
tommy
Aspect photo looks like the right key but It is not JMA ING-M If you look from the reverse the flat middle section is at least 2mm across As said before I have all the usual suspects as normal stock items Will phone the customer today and see if he can shed any light on where the lock came from
ponsaloti
I've got about 35 unused Ingersoll 700 series Padlocks still in there boxes. Half are M section Keyed alike and half are Q section keyed alike . unfortunately I have no keys or blanks for these but they do have the key numbers on the boxes. If anyone has blanks for these please let me know.
Growster
We have had keys made by Ingersoll to a similar code, 2Mxxx. This was indeed part of a masterkey suite. I failed in getting any for Mxxxx, whereby the xs are any digit. Ingersoll are very sluggish fabricators, though, they take forever.
grahamparker
At one time in the past you could buy a replacement core on the S section. Was a very long time ago, i still have wafers for keying alike but haven't used any in years.
ponsaloti
All I need is one of each key for my padlocks. Then I plan to re-core and flog them

I have been trying to get some m series blanks for my locks and have found a place in UK that does them, you still need letter of authority, by the way are you in UK? nxasdf
I know this topic is from 2013 but I see it recently got bumped last month. I just want to throw some closure to the original poster, Tommy. The key blank is an F section which is known to be cut with the conventional M codes, hence the inscription being 1M1556. ponsaloti
I still have these padlocks tucked away in the shop somewhere. Looks like I'm gonna be quite in the next few weeks so I may get a chance to have a little play around with them. Unfortunately, no reply from Lucky Bert! grahamparker
