April 2009 - Carrier bags!

thank you to Danny King for this suggestion.

Wondering if a poll on carrier bags could be done. For example do you offer a carrier bag also do you charge for them.

I have noticed nearly all the shops around me do noy offer carrier bags anymore or if they do they are now charging for them :?

Just a thought

When I brought my shop last year the previous owner had just run out of a batch of his own printed bags. I used Benchmark bags from Colledges when I got there (just whilst I worked out the best way to go) and there was uproar from the regulars, and I was seen as the nasty new man that took away their special bags. So by popular demand I have had some printed and although in comparism they are expensive I do feel they look good and proffesional, and as sad as it sounds it does give me pleasure to see people walking down the high street advertising my shop.

I now use pre-printed carrier bags available from my wholesaler & don't charge (as my own branded carriers are pretty much used up)

Customers are asked if they would like a carrier (Benchmark) & most decline.

other (please reply to the topic)

We sell a re-usable Hessian (eco) carrier @ £2.50

I use preprinted too. Benchmark or Topy, but don't you just hate it when you bag up all your work on the shelf. Customer comes in, rips open the bag like a Terrier with a rag too see the work and then says, can I have another bag please. #-o

I switched to bio-degradable bags last year. I was worried that they would split and burst if you just looked at them, but, touch wood, I have had very few rejects.

I must have had all the rejects. I have to walk past them on tip toes and real slowly to stop them breaking in to a million pieces

Sticking to Topy and Benchmark

I decided to get my own carrier bags some years ago, had to have many thousands printed & anticipate I will still be giving them away when I retire

Welcome to the forum firstfor.

i have my own printed bags,

i find it cheaper than buying benchmark bags or birch ones!

the only downside is i have to but 10,000 at a time!

but it only works out at around 12GBP per thousand.

when you see your own carriers walking around the town centre it really gives a buzz!

mine are bright yellow and black so stand out in the crowd.
