Iain
Folks, My milkman just arrived to collect his dues! He's just asked me if I know where I can get a key cut seeing as I mend shoes. We don't cut transponder keys. The key is a red Ford Tibbe master. I've informed him that the key may need to be sent away for a few days(don't know if that's the case.) Could someone please provide a quote for a spare transponder key please. Postage will be paid where necessary. Muchos Gracias. Iain
hibsjo(SCO)
Hi Iain you really should be cutting these keys yourself as the customer can code it himself carry on!
Iain
Hibs, We just don't have enough people asking to warrant the investment. He must be the first to ask in over a year. When we used to cut Tibbe's they didn't sell well and we weren't even that expensive. I'm sure we'll have to look into cutting and coding in the future. Anyone else? Auto Key Wizard
What if he doesn't have the manual? Can it still be done? Iain, If this is what you've been shown, then use the procedure below. £30+ as a price guide for supply & code. 1. Insert master key, and turn to Position 2. PATS LED should illuminate. 2. Turn ignition from Position 2 to Position 0, and remove key. PATS LED will illuminate for 2 seconds. PATS system is now in programming mode for 10 seconds. 3. Insert the new slave key, and turn from Position 0 to Position 2. PATS LED will flash once if successful. 4. Repeat for all new slave keys. keymaker
Iain, If you do supply this key, make the customer aware that if the vehicle has already had previous keys coded to the system, to its maximum number of slave keys, it may not code in properly. If this is the case the system will have to be cleared and recoded with diagnostics.
Auto Key Wizard
maximum number of slave keys Good point, but I've only ever seen one vehicle maxed out with 16 keys registered on a PATS 1/2 system. It was an Escort, supplied two new keys to be cycled in with the Master, but only one would go in needed to charge extra for a clear down on that one. scousecobbler
When a customer has the red key, we only charge £12.99 to cut the key. We're even good enough to go to the customer's car and programme it for them if they feel incapable. Any other transponger key we charge £25, unless it's a battery head, in which case, it's £45! Are we too cheap?
