Pussycat Doll
Feel a little bit naughty posting this in here as you all seem to be huge fans of Gravograph but has anybody used the Roland Metaza engraving machines? Was looking at them at the show and for what I want to do, the Metaza MPX-70 would be ideal but was a little concerned that it didn't manage to do the small items that I needed without double sided sticky tape put onto the gel bed. Been looking at the new model and that seems to have a vice which would be better for one offs. Has anybody used the MXP-70 and what did you think of it? Thanks Alison
Guest Iain Cheall
DO NOT BUY THIS DUST GATHERING MACHINE IT'S @@@@ sorry for shouting but everyone needs to know how *edited* these are. If you still want to try them I will sell you mine, the only downside to this is that after 2 days you wont talk to me again
kobblers
haha, take no notice depending on the sort of work you want to do with it, the roland is an excellent machine for marking small items, trust me, you won't need double sided tape, that gel bed is extremely sticky, especially if you clean it regularly under warm water. just as a matter of interest, what exactly are you thinking of using it for? Pussycat Doll
I make fashion jewellery and wanted a small machine that I could engrave jewellery tags with my company name. I took some tags along to the fair and the man from Roland tried it but it wouldn't work with the gel pad alone as the tags are very small and they just moved when engraved, so he had to put tape down to keep them in place. I also looked at the Gravograph one and that was OK too but I liked the fact that with the Roland one, I could also put picture images onto things too - plus it was a fair bit less and smaller than the Gravograph. Guest Iain Cheall
hey each to their own but we bought the 60 when it was new to the market and we have spoilt more items than we have successfully marked. I wouldn't even consider doing an customers own item unless they signed a waver. the gel bed is poo the machine is poo the software is poo. I've said my piece if ascap likes it then great he can buy mine I need the cash for other things but I won't waste anymore of my time on it. as the man with no appetite for driving says carry on
k4mrc
i also had the misfortune to buy the 60 - dust gather it did - ruined many items then got really lucky - sold it! ironplanet uk900
Buy one off ebay if you must, everyone seems to want to off load this machine. I have never used one by the way, seems a pointless little thing to me
Guest Iain Cheall
I paid £1800 for mine at the cutting egde show at the Magna Centre in Sheffield 3 Years ago. I bought a load of the blanks they say you can buy easily If you really want to throw your money away make me an offer for mine complete with the blanks and chains and I will send it down to you but you have to promise under oath that you will not post on here that I ripped you off by selling you a pile of rubbish. To be honest with you I would feel bad charging you the postage costs and giving you the machine that is how bad it is. I am patiently waiting for my accountant to claim the depreciation against tax so that I can take a sledge hammer to it. I want to go into vinyl cutting and Lee tells me his Roland machine is the one but the name is putting me off getting it.

Auto Key Wizard
Hey I got a MPX-60 too with an inch of dust on it, make me an offer. I think the GravoTech M20 would best suit our feline member.
neilyuk
Got the MPX 70 last year and it has made me a small fortune, I must agree about the 60....quality is very poor and takes far to long to do the job
Rizla
Got to agree with Neil... my MPX-70 has worked hard in the last 12 months and with Christmas looming I know it will be hard at work printing cash!

Pussycat Doll
I spoke with Mastergrave yesterday and they are going to do some runs on the tags that I have. I mentioned about what you all have said about the 60 and he said that there were changes made when they did the 70 and the new 80 will eleviate any problems with surfaces not being flat. Thanks for the replies. I am going to wait to see what the results are that he comes back with before deciding. The Gravograph one is really out of the question for me as it doesn't fully do what I want to do. Will keep you all informed.
