kobblers
Have you tired Elfman's method of priming? It works a treat i do not use any prmers at all the way i prepare the clarks and thermo shoes is as follows pour some kumzoff in a jar apply to sole and heel of shoe and rub briskly with a saude brush but do not bend shoe whilst doing this or it will break up leave to dry for five to ten mins then brush of the the crumbs that form with astiff brush and apply either the renia ortec or syntic and finish as normal Rick. Gray
I concur...... Elfman seems to be the king of sticking stuff. Driped is an oiled waterproof leather, but you say you have scoured that away. And I can't think that it has permientated into the layer below as you say that is plastic and that is oil based anyway. Some piccies would help but hang on and Elfman will come to your aid, or PM him.
Lee
if these are dri ped, I'd lay money on them being stiched on, so why can't you just repeat the way they where made? post them to me & I'll sort them out. Lee

Fast Fix Elgin
Thanks for the offer Lee but my goodyear is working fine... as i say the shoes did have a veneer of what i thought was dri ped or something similar and my glue's would not stick. Always ready to take advice thou and if it happens again i will try elfmans method. Thanks for the input

These 2 quotations do not equate in my book, No 1 ...Dri Ped is not Oiled it is Greased.(or was) No 2 Dri Ped was not attached to any form of Plastic derivitave, either PVC,TR, TPR, TPU,or TPPU. (perhaps things have changed and if they have then I'm glad that I dont have to repair Dri-Ped in a moulded unit.).
Count Muppet
Did I miss the answer on how to stick dri ped? Came in this morning to a pair scoured up waiting for me, and the customer is due in today. Trouble is that they want a SOS on them so no stitching. I tried s10 primer but it stayed wet so I was thinking of drying out with kumzoff or zippo fuel, any ideas?
Count Muppet
Success! Used zippo fuel on one and cyanoacrylate activator on the other, left both to dry and coated with 2 coats of 5050. I heated them both before heating the SOS and putting them on. Once cooled down they trimmed up as normal
Fast Fix Elgin
Well done that man =D> I hope they stay stuck
Count Muppet
yeah, stuck well. annoyingly the customer came to collect them just before i was to put the soles on, i explained the problems with the material and let him know i had already tried twice to get them to stick. he said not to worry and just bin them. i told him i was about to have my last attempt so he might aswell see how they turn out and i won't charge him as i didn't expect it to stick. so i lost £20 turnover but gained some valuable experience
