StevenB
I've had a golf club brought in, and my customer seems to think I will be able to mount it on a board for him. Does anybody have any suggestions as to where I could source a suitable backing board that needs to measure around 1000mm x 200mm. I don't think the type or colour of the wood really matters, I just need to get hold of something to put it on. I'll worry about how to fit it once I've got something to fit it to! The time scale is the most pressing issue at the moment - it's needed by the 20th Feb at the latest. Any suggestions welcome!
Michael
Find a local chippy to cut and router the edges of a piece of mahogany, then stain and varnish. Easier than trying to find a supplier.
Gray
http://www.moranswoodcomponents.co.uk/ Might be worth a phone call.
derek
what about 2 smaller pieces of wood, 1 for each end of the club to mount onto then mount it onto a wall, if that's what the customer plans to do with it?

StevenB
I emailed Morans yesterday, no reply yet. None of the local firms I have spoken to are interested in doing random one offs

Forest Cobbler
What about going somewhere like B & Q and buying a ready made mahogany shelf? Though I agree, if you've got a local chippy he probably needs the money more.
StevenB
I've followed Argy Bargy's link to Allwood Products, and sourced a board from them, at trade price, complete with the fittings for the golf club. Result. Cheque is in the post Argy Gray

derek
Good result all round Steven......... I'd be interested to know how helpful they were and if they are worth recommending again.... i had an enquiry for them back in November, very helpful lady on the phone, unfortunately my customer had left it way to short in notice for them to supply the wood backing they needed. No fault of theirs and i would definately go back to them if/when the need arises
