Simes
As many of you know I work from a trailer unit in a retail park approx 13' x 7' so have a very limited space for retail. However, I have managed to squeeze in a 4' wide retail wall and would like to hear from you what your best sellers are, shoe care and otherwise. I have some items (see pic) but don't reckon these are the best sellers. How would you use the space?

grahamparker
Key tags, we have 2 boxes of kevron tags next to the till and about 75% of the public that buy a key buy a tag. We buy the loose bage of 50 (all colours) from Aldridges and mix them up, we also sell the bags of 50 to landlords and estate agents.

Chris @ IKS
I wouldn't bother with things that people can pick up in the supermarket or in other shops on the retail park, use specialist brands like Tarrago or Woly then you don't get direct comparison with the pound shop. Make the display colourful and eye catching with different coloured creams and dyes.

Simes
get a photo kiosk in for passport photos all the guys round there need them for their licences and IDthey are small enough to fit into your space carry on! Good idea, but that would really be a stretch in the space I have (or should I say, don't have!). Even Lee's idea although good would be tricky. Just isn't the room I'm afraid. k4mrc
Re - Photo machines, Is this easy? Also around here there seem lots of people who do this (about 6 shops) and do you get many people complaining that the photo quality?
hakeemz
its easy and no complaints ..just follow simple guidlines regarding sizes and u r ok dont worry about 6 people, for what it costs u to offer this service i think its worth it..plus its inline with your traditional set of service anyway (timpsons etc)
Mike at Vauxhall
My shop is about the same size as your trailer unit. My two foot display of shoecare has laces and insoles in the most prominent position. They are the top sellers and have the best margins. I sell polish, but not the cream as when I stocked them they never sold. Aerosols are a non starter except for suede protector.never had any luck with dyes. Padlocks would sell better in blister packs. All shops can be different, but this is what works for me. Generates £80-100 a week.
