i still have a viper on the back of the van , been there for 7 or 8 years , still as good as new and still making me money , the number of keys its cut and still cuts makes it far from a failure .

i was once told buy silca buy once , twice i have needed help from matt at silca , both times due to a faulty lead when updating , so with almost zero downtime from the machine in all this time makes it a reliable and trustworthy work horse , far from a failure in my view.

That echo's a few of my mates thoughts on the Viper and i am intrigued as to why kingkey thinks it's a failure when

they have been using it in there vans for years without any problems.

I just assumed he was referring to it's weight rather than any failure in it's actual performance?

I believed him to be stating that it is not a mobile machine, having fitted a couple in vans I think he is correct, they are heavy.

yes my post was not in anyway meant to imply that the viper is a bad machine , but i know a certain autolocky cum cobbler that has been struggling to use the viper as a mobile machine and has been lifting it into his vehicle to go to every job and lifting it back into his shop again , no fun and i can see why he was negotiating the best deal he could at the lock expo last weekend :)

he may call himself a wizard but he is no champion weight lifter

i am sure if bolted down properly in a van ,the viper is fine . however its not a mobile tool

It's all a laugh, just finished dinner so logged on. I hope the other lads are like this, he has picked it up really quickly. Two people who need training are in Scotland, how far are you from Elgin? When I drop the two machines off they are going Edinburgh and Elgin, I may pop in on the way.

What a great sense of humour you've got Wozza, here's me thinking you were having a go at me! Ho! Ho!

Just got back from job interview at Lockdecoders, money's great but I can't see me working for them. I think i'll just pop along to shows in the future and have a laugh with the guys there and see where it takes me.

If you are looking for someone to demonstrate your machine, I'm open to offers, just ask Peter at Lockdecoders for a reference, I'm sure he'll be happy to recommend me. I'm not greedy, salary negotiable.

I'm looking at the Futura as well, so I can give an impartial view of your machine. I might be the only locksmith to have all three machines in his van! Think about it......

In my experience of building a key cutting business of moderate amount, no need for 4 unocode 399s

If you want a cylinder code machine for your busy shop that will also duplicate keys do not look any further than the silca unocode 399 evo. It's more expensive than the ninja and U199 but in this case you get what you pay for believe me I have learnt the hard way. It will set you apart from the likes of Timpsons and your customers will notice your professional service

If you want to provide the same professional service for mortice keys silca is way way behind with the idea machine and that's where the keyline 993 lynx is market leader

With regards to the earlier question about transponder duplication, I think the TRS 5000 is the best cloning machine to sit in your shop and never let you down,no internet connection failures and out performs the zed bull every day, however I have been very impressed with the miraclone and it seems to be taking strides forward with other technology with VAG if that's the direction you will want to take. Have no experience with silcas offering

I don't as yet cut dimple/laser keys to code we have Silca matrix pro which every time I use I just smile, it's firm, very accurate copies magnum/ mellenco and multi lock classic keys no problem, no need for cards it's probably the best engineered machine I've ever had top marks to silca for that one. If I was to invest in that area I would not look any where else than the Triax Quattro

If like us you have a healthy key cutting business I think it's important to invest in the type of equipment that sets you apart from others. Key machine that do all keys are great for vans that's about it.

I don't know if you are joking but I would prefer to believe that you are not, I don't like PM in secret so I will answer you here.

I made a mistake at the show and sold 1 more machines than I had pre-ordered from the factory; this has left me short 1 demo machine. I can train the lads on the machines they have bought but I have no spare machines to let you have a lend. My personal machine has just been stripped back to as-shipped and rebuilt up to customer spec just in case of an unforeseen issue with a customer's machine.

I have some inbound from the USA to re-stock but these are a few weeks away. When they arrive I have allocated a demo machine which I will be sending around for people to have a play with for a week at a time.

So far 4 members have expressed an interest in trying the machine out against their current machines, I will add you to that list.

When I am in Scotland to deliver the customer machines I will drop past for you to have a play.

Hi Locksafe

I am based in Elgin and if its possible I would like a demo when your in the area.

@FastFixElgin, I thought it was you too, Kinloss near Elgin?

I am hoping he will drive down rather than me drive up but not looking likely, I didn't realise how far it was from Edinburgh.

Oh deary me, yes Edinburgh to Elgin is a 3 hour drive (up the A9 turn off at Aviemore then head to Forres) on a good day.

Kinloss is about 7 miles from Elgin but I have a shop in Forres which you will pass throu on the way to Kinloss(Forres-Kinloss 2miles)

The kettle will be on :D

Nice Webinar...

My Silca Futura was delivered at 09:00 on 23 June.

With a whole week of using it I believe I have made an excellent choice.

What an AWESOME machine.

Watch out for a product review soon.

Yip that machine has put all other low cost cut to code machines in their place but silca had lost a lot of customers to basic machines they had to produce their own basic machine but it ain't that basic it is a great wee machine.

Said this before - we have x2 Triax Quattro's with all the toys x4 399 x3 299 etc etc but we are geared up for heavy duty key cutting.

By the feedback here it seems the Futura is ideal for cutting a wide range of keys at low volumes and slow speeds using the same cutters for several cards? Great proposition as you need fewer cutters and time is no problem as you have time on your hands.

You just have to make sure the 'sales pitch' of 'Silca plug and play' does not require the usual Silca after sales support... which can take a few days/weeks.

Dimple cut keys to code are available from (Trade price removed by mod) with free delivery on genuine blanks - you do the maths, blanks/delivery costs/cutting/cutters + machine cost Vs (Trade price removed by mod) delivered and cut (and they work)

Well...had my Futura for a few weeks now and overall well impressed by its performance, however...

Trying to get spare cutters and tracers is not easy. Many phone calls to all the usual suspects and nobody available, not returning calls or no stock! Really frustrating!

Anyone else had to try and buy anything for it yet? I managed to break my tracer this morning :( Completely my fault but looks like getting a new one might be tricky!
