timpsons leggo unit

Recommended Posts

They are crap, too small and bad hours. No-one wants to work in them as they can't make bonus and have to work til late and Sunday's. They have no toilets or running water, so you can't even have a nice cup of tea. No motivation at all. They are the beginning of the end of Timpson.

But I don't really have an opinion of them either way ;)

I heard on the grapevine about one guy who was in one (dunno where) and his dust bag caught fire and instead of picking up a fire extinguisher, he phoned his area manager asking what to do......

Everything I've heard is that the guys in these mini shops are too inexperienced cos nobody else wants to do it.

no running water no tea i know its 18 years since i left but you could be right in my relif days there was a legend of a manager in cumbria who cooked a great breakfast every morning (no while u wait between 10 & half past) cooked on the 2 ring burner & grill & all claimed as cleaning expences, upside down management before jt envented it happy days eeeh.but on a serious note if your looking to test the water on opening a new branch its not a bad way to go,your not getting tied in to a long lease are you?.bit like a pikey if its no good here then move onto the next town. as for the quality of the staff ive never seen one of these unit in the flesh so i cant comment.but i do remember the days of the mr minit 2 week wonder.hope history isnt repeating its self?

Legend has it Cobb-Lees does some mean micro cookery on a daily basis. But I do adopt the principle if it goes wrong or cold because of a customer, then who cares its their profit paying for it. I just start again.

I remember one day (pre microwave) buying a take away next door, returning 30 minutes later & buying it again & then returning 30 minutes after that & ordering something different, without explaining myself. even to the point of answering "yes" when she said "still hungry"

I worked for Timpsons about a couple of decades ago in Cumbria, wondering what town that was in? I used to be in the Kendal Timpsons.

Guess this Is Simon the Mormon (Sorry old joke) I was your boss all those years ago.

The manager was Jimmy Hunter we had great fun with him he was paranoid about security and would close the shop and rattle the door with such agression the P fell off the sign spelling TIPSONS. We would walk a few hundred yards down the road and ask a random question like "did you turn off the till" or was the finisher still running when we left" and he would run back to check It worked every time!

He grassed me up for going home on my day off once! so to get my own back I rang him at 3am after a skinfull and putting on a voice told him I was a police seargent standing by his shop as his window had been broken by vandals & he needed to attend straight away.

The next day I rang the shop to find out how It went. I put on the exactly same voice and the counter assistant said hello Colin what you putting a silly voice on for. Jimmy said the police were treating the call very seriously and had traced It to Workington I was In Lancaster at the time

Jimmy If you are reading this Yes It was me you can't say to much or I will remember some other stories.
