Simes
Hi, Anyone in Lanarkshire (East Kilbride or Hamilton area) that would be able to recover the heels on some knee high black leather stiletto boots? Website enquiry. If not anyone prepared to do them if they are sent by post? Simon

Michael
What do you use to remove the old glue residue? I've tried a couple of different things, like white spirit, meths, kumzof etc. but doesn't seem to remove it cleanly and I end up having to rub them down with wet n dry paper!! Simes
Ok. I'll attempt them next time. I have not long been back in the industry after a 17 year break. In them days we used a heel attacher which I don't have. I'll use screws next time. Did you cover them or just respray?
toofatbyfar
yes not a problem where do you get suitable thin leather coverings from?
elfman
tofatby far i use standerdleather and thin it downor you could get helmet leather which will stretch to any shape you like simes she sent 2 pair down 1 was for a recover the other was to clean off the toe renw ew pen that she had used and then trid to remove with nail varnish remover so i had to strip down to bare plastic and respray
Lee
no simes i use 4 self ctting screws if possable i will put 1 through the shank I do the same, but try if possible (with out damaging linings with a chuck) to drill a pilot hole. I also use stainless steel screws for added strength & certainty they won't corrode (not that corrosion is usually a problem, its just me!) elfman
what length of drill are you using lee and try drilling your pilot holes from the heel seat before placing the heel ,get yourself some long series drills they give you that bit more room to work with

Simes
Nice testimonial for Eric! "Hi Simon. Just got my boots back from Eric, Valeshoe in Liverpool this morning. Perfect job. He took heels off and re-covered and put them back on. I'm really pleased. Just wish there was a way of protecting the leather heels, i'll be too scared to wear them now hahaha. Thanks once again for your time and help. Much appreciated. Alison" Many thanks Eric! =D> =D>

StevenB
Great tip to use crepe to clean off the heel blocks. I had a pair in to strip off & spray yesterday, first pair for months to do this to. Using crepe was a revelation! So quick & easy. I've also used it for other similar jobs in the last few days. The power of the forum strikes again.
