StevenB
Traitor Don't hold back Valerie, say what you think!! Talking to Craig at Trophex on Monday, he reckoned that apparently the Roland machine looks better than the Universal. I can't say I agree, but each to his own. Even if he is wrong. derek
you'll be back when you realise the roland isn't as good, but you'll need to pay an admission fee
Gray
It will be interesting to see how Craig gets on with it. Maybe the Vistool Owners Club should be renamed to the Umarq Owners Club because you can run Roland stuff from the Vistool software or at least you could. We need a rethink Steve. The Roland egx360 won't work on vistool but I ain't slagging it the universal and vistool is a great combination but we currently use Roland egx350 with their software as well and the staff finding it easier but I currently have 2 shops knocked into 1 and the shop next door is closing down so hopefully I can get the lease so will have a even bigger shop and then will have room to keep the universal as well . Gray
That water cooled glass engraving bothers me..........Water and electricity don't mix....You could die .. ....Puts me in mind of Lee's tutorial of drilling out heel tubes..... ..Also it seems strange doing jobs sideways on...Having said that it is probably a very competent machine if my old EGX300 is anything to go by

burghlocks
Hi, I was wondering if anyone can give some hints and tips on trying to engrave photo's, I've been playing around with Importing them direct using Vistool and also editing them first in photoshop, can't seem to get rid of the backgound, it always engraves the square size round the photo, any help would be appreciated Alistair
Forest Cobbler
This is an excerpt from the instructions that I downloaded from Umarq. Hope this helps. 1 Insert a picture using the methods described previously, see Page 83. Right Click on it and select "Edit Mask" from the Dialogue Box. 2 You will now be able to use the Masking Tools. Select the "Magic Brush" and a mask colour, the best colour is one that is a complete contrast to the background you wish to mask. 3 You can adjust the size of the mask brush, using the scroll wheel on your mouse. Now start to follow the edge of the person with the Left Mouse Button held down, the background will now be painted over. You do not have to be very accurate when using the Magic Brush, the idea is to detect the edges for you, see Figure 1. 4 Do not worry if you stray over the edge, to remove any excess just Click and hold down the Right Mouse Button over the excess and it will be removed. To finish off your mask once you have completed the outline just Click somewhere on the background holding down the shift key, see Figure 2. 5 To exit the masking function press you will now see the picture with the background removed. You can then go on to process the picture ready for engraving, using the Picture Parameters as before see Page 85.
