Simon, what do you charge for recplacing a button ? And how much for a shell ?

15 to 20 pounds for one button
Shells almost half the price of a new key
The price depends on the price I paid for shell
Sometimes I value a little less if the car costs as much as the new key :-D

I use the older version of this https://www.pdr-rework.com/c3-chipmate no air to blow parts around and no soldering irons to burn things.

Did cost s*&t loads though.

I think thats a bit O.T.T. for for car remotes so I will pass on that,

I see your point

i do encourage them to buy a spare first in case there is any problems, but I mainly do that to get extra money in the till. Once I put the element of risk in their heads, it’s usually an easy sale for a spare non remote key.

I think this is the way forward, sell a non remote working key, get customer to leave remote for a complete overhaul, customer then has working remote and a spare in case of loss. Thanks to everyone for their input.
