Peter@CopyCut
We do not charge a premium for awkward or difficult jobs as like others have said return customers are our life blood. Sorry but this makes no business sense, so Ferrari should be priced like Corsa? More effort = higher price Good fellow key cutter = one shop Timpsons = 1300 shops
grahamparker
Sorry but this makes no business sense, so Ferrari should be priced like Corsa? More effort = higher price Good fellow key cutter = one shop Timpsons = 1300 shops If we duplicated a non transponder key for a Corsa and Ferrari then yes it would be the same price. I don't get the more effort bit, why is it more effort. I will give you an example, about a week ago a customer came in with 3 locks from a 1968 chevrolet, they had been rechromed and polished but no longer worked. I spent half an hour freeing the wafers and on 2 i had to drill a small hole to tap the side bar down to get them working. He had 3 keys cut for the vehicle as well while he was here. i only charged him £10.00 + vat to get the locks working again + the price of the keys. Last Saturday he called in and thanked me again then bought 3 Security hasp and staples and 3 Federal 730 padlocks keyed alike and spent just over £300.00 telling me he would not go anywhere else and had recommended us to all his friends and family. so a tricky job of getting the locks working paid off for me. No short term gain will ever pay in the long term. This is NOT a one off this is just an example that happened within the last week. kobblers

You could easily charge him, fair £30 + vat to fix the lock, and it would make no difference, he would be back anyway, I don't think many of us appreciate how good we are, believe you me £30 would be still cheap to him, he would still say to his mates that he knows this guy who does magic with locks. Lee
Good fellow key cutter = one shop Timpsons = 1300 shops One shop good fellow, can compete on a level playing field at local level with a corporate giant. At the last count none of us had 1300 shops within ten miles of us. I concentrate my efforts 100% at local level, and leave "area managers" to worry about me, it's their job too. I can't remember the last time I looked in a competitors window. Lee kobblers, Auto Key Wizard, x minit uk and 1 other
