StevenB
What adhesive / primer are you using and what type of sole are you trying to fit?
avonsecurity
Yellow Riablo primer and plastic cement with a rubber stick on sole. Appologies if I'm getting the technical terms or the spelling wrong I am relaying messages from my computer illiterate cobbler!!!
elfman
do you mean yellow renia are the soles on the shoes a greasy substance when scoured or a powdery one , either way brush the soles with kumsoff or any cleaner stripper then rub it with a suede brush or rough pan scourer and allow to dry then try your contact adeshve
Paul_
Try "priming" the shoe with flexible superglue. Put a few drops on the sole of the shoe and wipe all over with a piece of rubber, wait to dry and rough gently with piece of sand paper, then use PVC adhesive in a normal way. I only use this when all other conventional primers fail but seems to fix these pain in the butt materials. hope the helps.

avonsecurity
Thanks for all the advice, this is what he did. 3 coats of black shoe spray paint to the scoured off shoe, key in the last coat, apply glue to the sole in the normal manor and the sole sticks to the paint and the paint sticks to the glue apparently !! avonsecurity
I'm not the cobbler, I just employ 2 of them, this just backs up my theory that all cobblers think they are the best cobblers in the world and everyone else is rubbish! No offence intended, just an observation!! I did pass on elfmans advice but he'd gone and done it before he gave me a chance to get back to him with answers from the forum. The cobbler in question is no spring chicken he's been in the trade 20 years.
bkb
very well. it might be the perfect solution for you. from my experince, the thinner in the glue will peel paint. as far as being the best in the world, i think not. its principles before personalities my friend
avonsecurity
The customer has been asked to come back if there is a problem, hopefully she won't but if she does I will be sure to let you know and put it down to experience, "principles before personalities" I like that one. Once again many thanks for the advice, if he'd waited like I told him to.........! Jim
elfman
does not matter how long he has been in the trade if he does not keep up with current materials now being used by the manufacturers
