Durban
Hi all, I am about to apply for a development grant for cutting car keys, but I have very little experience with transponders, we currently have a Silca Rekord 2000 machine. What would you recommend I start with?? --Which cutting machines should I look into? --What transponder programmer? --What key boards? --Promotion ideas? --Costs --Are there books and training courses? Thanks, Durb
derek
Hickleys do a training course for the ad100 pro and mvp pro, and these machines seem to be the most popular, there are laptop based software available too, so take your time to way things up, you would also need a laser machine, basic model would be something like the sks hurricane, then are you going to try and chase the lost key market? therefor you would need lock picks, and a cut to code machine, again there are amny out there

Thanks, Durb what you will need will depend on what service you are looking to supply , as if planning on being shop only and only doing clone keys from an existing key , then your needs will be very different from if you planned on doing obd programming and a mobile service etc . if shop based only then you have to decide on level of coverage of the services you wish to offer as this will determine what you need for anyone to answer your questions with accuracy , it will help to know what you want to offer . if just shop based cloning your requirements are lower , if a full service then far higher , if mobile and shop higher again . Durban
Thanks for the answers, We are planning on being shop based only, just copying. We are too busy to leave the shop. Thanks
derek
for cloning, then you will find the bianchi 884 is popular, then there's the miraclone that some like and others don't, zedbul is another machine, but i have heard they are not upgrading this machine anymore and are working on a new transponder machine, you will still need a laser machine for doing car keys
Lee
if your shop based, you can't go wrong with the 884. heads & blades are cheap now so you can produce keys at the right price.
grahamparker
Not sure what machines are available to you in sunny (has been every time i have been and one of my favourite cities in the world) San Francisco. The european market is quite different to the American one. You wont go far wrong with any silca machine.

rapidlocks
jim at keypro is a top fella and seriously knows his stuff , he is also the guy to talk to about the 3D pro which will cut all edge keys and all laser keys to copy or to code , great machine and geared up to the US market . As has been said zedbull , bianchi , silca , jma any of these cloners will give you good cloning potential . talking to jim would be a great start Jim Hetchler jim@keypro.com

grahamparker
My advice would be to look elsewhere, SKS, Keyprint, Davenports or Aldridges.
