Trophy Supplier

Recommended Posts

what would be nice from all the suppliers is a call or email saying

"sorry this is out of stock but we have these similar items on page whatever we can supply"

and all suppliers should have some form of online stock check

i would also note if it is a component item out of stock, try searching for the top and marble seperately.

i tend to contact my big customers and buy up soccer trophies early to make sure of the following

A. i can compete with cheapaschips.com

B. sleep sound knowing i have the stock put aside

C. wont get hit with out of stocks

but over the past couple of years i have found it much harder to find anything in decent numbers out of season

i would guess the reason is all the suppliers are buying less than they used to, hence getting caught out with low stock in peak season

glenway are great as is trend. both offer speedy and reliable services...most of the time

if you have fallen out with suppliers make friends again. never hurts to have another catalogue on the back burner

i have just been speaking to dave at first fit supplies, he has good stock of soccer resins

I very much agree with Andy with regards to buying up offers and clearence lines and then approaching my big customers with them before they have had a chance to play off different trophy shops and CheaperThanChips.com but there was absolutely nothing about this year. When I look at how many of my orders I had sorted and got out the door by say the end of March in previous years compared to the last minute dash this year. That in turn must make it even harder for the trophy suppliers.

What I do think the trophy companies either forget or underestimate is...

Firstly whatever trophies I put in my window display I will sell the most of that season as people like to be able to see / touch / hold etc. What trophies do I put in the window? Well that is based on the quality of the trophy, its price, margin and the realiable and service of the supplier. It's no good me being able to sell loads of them if I can't get hold of them.

Secondly I may have brochures from however many suppliers but I only ever give a customer one maybe two depending on their requirements. How I decide which brochure to give them? The one(s) I know are going to provide the back up.

Basically keep me your customer happy and you will sell a lot more through my shop. Times that by all the different shops and you will sell a whole more.

I fell out with Trend, they stopped a big order for the sake of a missed invoice for £8.00...Told them where to insert their trophies

Hello Gray, My name is John Paul Cowan. I am Managing Director and owner of Trendsetting Awards. I have recently been made aware of the Shoe repairer forum and have spent the last few days becoming familiar with the site. Like your post i have come across a number of posts that i feel i can hopefully help with. Firstly, i would like to apologise for the negative experience with regard to your account being put on stop. This should not have happened over a missed £8.00 invoice. I have already discussed this with our Sales Director Julie Harbottle and we would like to discuss the issue with you. Hopefully we can put it right and move forward. Can you email me your account details etc so we can get in touch?

To be honest i only tend to use TD, Glenway and Swatkins for my trophies and have only ever been told that an item was out of stock on a few occasions, i would love to use other suppliers but dont know of any others.

Any chance of a list?

Thanks Graham. Our systems are much tighter now and what happened a few years ago doesn't happen now (head on a block). Your catalogue pack has gone in the post tonight.
