Ian platt
A woman left a bag for repair it needed a magnetic catch a patch of leather the lining opened and then sealed again so that the repair was invisible my colleague done stood job customer came back to collect my colleague was off I found the bag showed her repair and asked for £4.00 at which she replied as much as that I'll come back when the other guy is in he wouldn't charge as much! I explained that I was the boss and I make the prices and for the amount of time work entailed it was affair price she said no and would callback I took out stitches an patch and catch made good the bag. A couple days later she returned and asked for her bag I gave her the bag and told her that'd reversed the repair so that she could go somewhere else anklet me know how Mutch it cost the last thing I wanted was a customer thinking that I was ripping them off I've had 32years of this. And think I'm at end of my tether :-&

Lee
I never take on a job without quoting a price first & giving a ticket clearly stating the price. I have been looking at £10 for that one. Lee
Michael
I would also have charged £10-£12 and they would have paid up front.
theshoeman9
Absolute minimum charge of £5 for patching/stitching & have a notice up to say so. By the time you've messed around & changed the thread etc, could of done a couple of pairs of heels ! As with Lee, i always quote up front & put the price on the ticket, then when they collect there is no issue !

John P
I charge a minimum of 4.99 for stitching and 6.99 for patching, anything above that I ask for a deposit of 50% if the customer is calling back.Of course I get people who moan ,but then so does every other business in the area, its just the way things are at the moment,I dont worry about it anymore.JP. Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
Take the advice of Lee, also cannot reinstat a bag to its original condition (before repair) after you have repaired it. The customer could then use the small claims in the county court for the cost of a new bag. (wont happen on a cheapo bag but some bags are megabucks). the dutch cobbler
I should never reverse the repair I did when the customer says it's to expensive! She didn't asked what it should cost and you did your work. Now you do a double job and no money in the till! And 4 pounds for this job is cheap!
